6’6" 16" N x 21" W x 15.5" T 2.25" thick. I “borrowed” this design from Rusty’s Toad, which I thought looked interesting. 3/8" concave deck, 1/4" double concave bottom from nose to tail, but goes to flat a few inches from the tail, slight vee in last 1/3 of board. Probox quad set up with 10.5" center fin box. Fin position taken from archives, particularly PlusOneShaper’s fin placement in the “Round pin quad” thread. Thought I would throw that in to prove that I actually go to the archives sometimes. Thanks to Larry at Probox for overnighting new 6 degree inserts after the tape over my boxes began to float in the resin as I set the boxes. I had to crack out the inserts, but luckily my fin boxes stayed in place! Used Resin Research epoxy and resin pigment- yellow and red. Mixed a big batch of yellow and added a small batch of red, probably stirred 2 times, should have only stirred once, colors muddied a little more than I wanted. I should have followed the advice from archives.
I took this board to Mexico, but the surf was small, only about 3 ft, so I wasn’t able to push it’s limits, it did catch small waves easily, and the thinness due to the concavity did not seem to effect paddling or wave catching. I surfed it as a quad and with 5 fins. Very skatey, builds speed quickly as you pump rail to rail. Surfs like a fish. I like the concave deck. It seems to be more responsive to toe and heel pressure. I found it more comfortable to paddle due to the cradling effect. My new favorite board.
