I have used special sauce at different times for the past eight years and never had a problem.
As for professional finish you don’t get much more professional than some of the brands that come out of Sydney or the Gold Coast and the standard in these places is to finish with auot clear acrylic lacquer.
We still finish all longboards with a finish resin and buff and polish to get that mirror finish most longboarders like.
cheers for all the help, i think maybe, being in NZ, board makers here use a lot of methods(eg finishing) perfected on the east coast of aus, being so close, and im just used seing these methods in local boardsand the way they feel. in fact im not sure ive ever picked up a board that i was sure it was made in the US, hawaii, Uk etc…maybe in indo but theres none round here. ive decided to go with some clear acrylic, see how that goes.
I’ve find Klear floor polish works quite well. You can get it from the supermarket. If you look up Future in the archives you can find out all about it. It’s the same thing (clear acrylic wax), but it goes by a different name in this country.
Howzit Herb, A few years back I had access to a silicone based car polish that was insane. It was hard to get but it had what was called the wet look and it was slippery. I used it on both glossed finihes and sanded finishes. O time I made the mistake of putting it to high on the rails and the first time I surfed with it when I went to get up my hands just slipped off the rail and I did a full face plant on the deck. Unfortunately I don't know how to get it any more.Aloha,Kokua
