One more.

Those aren’t wing bumps something happened to the image?

looks good DMP.

how’d you do the spray?

spraypaint? gun? what paint did you use?

Thank you.

Badger airbrush with Creatix water based acrylic airbrush paint. The nice thing about the airbrush is that it puts out so little paint that it rarely bleeds under the tape into the eps.

After looking at the pictures you can see where it’s laminated the colors stand out. I’ll post some finished pictures when the boards done. It should look much better.

thanks DMP

so did you spray on the foam?

on the sealed shape?

do you have any problems when you epoxy over it?

pinholes, etc?

Shaped blank is sealed with epoxy and microballons. If I’m going to color the board I give the seal coat a quick once over with 220. No color no sanding unless it’s too rough and will catch the glass.

No problems with epoxy. I’ll even glass over it after 30-40 minutes. I’ve even done a few that I’ll spray directly onto the laminate before it gets a sanding coat/gloss coat. Just have to be more carefull when sanding.

I’m liking the airbrushing more and more because I’ve done all sorts of paint in the past. Paint is designed to form a protective layer that if not done properly can cause pinholes. The airbrush goes on so light that it doesn’t really seal the surface, just stains it. The control of the airbrush is also very fine and if you apply yourself you can do some amazing things.

To be perfectly honest I usually end up airbrushing to hide blemishes and dirt that I can’t get out. The eps is like a magnate for dirt and I’m shaping outside up to my toes in red dirt.

thanks for your time and info DMP

this is really good to know
