I have a 2 part acrylic urethane automotive marine clear coat that I’m thinking about spraying a board with, the board is RR epoxy and has been curing in my 100 degree garage for 3 weeks.IT is in the rough sanding stage(120 grit) and I have hit the weave quite a few times sanding. Will the urethane clearcoat cause the weave to dissapear once applied or amplify it? I’ve heard a poly gloss goes good over epoxy as well, but it chips easily. These are the only 2 products I have at the moment, poly or urethane, which would be the go?Or should I just get more epoxy and be done with it?
Jesus,
Peteuk is a knowledgable ''paint guy'', I'd go with whatever he says.

I've used quite a bit of two part polyurethane clear coat on RR epoxy. Works great, covers weave and most scratches. Best results if sanded to 320 grit. You'll need to rub it out if you want it to really shine though.
Be sure and ventilate well, the stuff is nasty!
Thanks for the reply surfthis,I have access to a spray booth with an exhaust system for fumes and dust, and also someone who is an experienced automotive painter to school me durring the application.I just don’t want to spray the board and end up with a bunch of visible weave under the clear coat.I will probably mix a little and do a small test on an area with weave showing,I know there are alot of different brands and types of this stuff.
Make sure the weave isn’t in a dry spot,
and there is enough resin left to isolate the
foam. 2 part clear, can, in my experience eat styrofoam.
Learned this, like many of life’s lessons,
the hard way.
