2014 Noserider

I’m trying to shape one new noserider a year(for me)…For 2014, I started off with a US Blanks 10’2" B blank.  This will be a 9’8" x 23" x 19 1/2" x 16 1/2", 2 7/8" thick…Not sure how many pictures I’ll take, but I’ll try to keep this thread updated for anyone who’s interested.  I’m just a backyard hack.

What are you doing for bottom contour?

Thanks for the build thread.

I’m a big fan of “work in progress” pictures!

FLAT bottom…“slight” V in tail…VERY slight.  Glass on single fin.  Cut laps. Either a multiple color foam stain or a mulitple color resin tint.  Differnent shades of blues and grays…

50/50 rails all the way, or down a little in the tail since your adding the vee? I’m assuming since it’s a noserider 50/50 or maybe a little up in the tail.

60/40 rails all the way down.

Decided to foam stain the nose and tail a lime greenish color.  Glassing the whole board with 6oz.(double deck, single bottom), cut laps on both sides just because I’m used to doing them and it keeps things clean and tidy.

Spring green man! Good job —Seriously.

Laminated the deck and tacked on the fin.  Will glass the fin on tomorrow and hotcoat the board, if the wind dies down(I’ve done all the glassing outside).

Got the fin glassed on and the board is hotcoated.  Will sand tomorrow and/or Saturday, then it’s off to get an automotive clear coat spray and polish at my buddies auto shop.  Stoked.  It’s not perfect, but I had to make do with laminating and hotcoating outside, sometimes with a bit of wind…

And yeah…I put FOUR of my “logos” on the board…I have an entire sheet from Boardlams.com, so I figured I better use them up.

I like it.  Is it a step deck or is that just a reflection?

No stepdeck. Just a reflection of the EZUps above the board.

I’ve been following this on the erBB too.  Looks great!

Sanded the board today…150, 220, 320.  Finish coat(automotive 2 part finish) will be applied on Monday/Tuesday.  And yes ghettorat, I know my “finishing skills suck”.  Thanks.

Gnarly fin.

Gr8 pix, thanks for sharing!

Thx. I just liked the shape. No rocket science or hydrodynamics involved in my fin choice…  A similar fin worked real well(as a glass on) on an older board I made with similar dimensions.  I’ll post a ride report/pics/video in the next couple weeks.  It’s getting it’s shiney new finish now…

All done finally.  Not perfct by any means, but I’m super stoked on it.  It got the final gloss(2 part automitve) coat applied by a buddy who does automotive collision repair, in a nice controlled booth…

Shiney…nice

Been getting this board out in some of the micro-waves we’ve been getting this week up in North County SD.  Paddles like a dream, noserides great, turns too slowly.
