From one who would know. Assuming the catalyst is a " fail safe" measure. Otherwise there would be no need for UV Boxes with timers and drip trays as seen in all their videos and adds.
That woul be the norm. Thanks Scot.
You can take Scott’s advice to the bank. He knows his business and what he’s talking about and turns out some of the best lams around. He won’t steer you wrong. I’d use him over anyone else.
As stated above, its mostly the resin with optical brighteners and bluing agents. The optical brighteners actually take light that is outside the visible spectrum and convert it into visible light, so that helps boards look ever so slightly brighter. The bluing agents also help because modern electronic devices are typically shifted very slightly towards the blue side of the color spectrum. Our eyes have recalibrated so that we perceive something as white when in fact it is likely shifted (to an indistinguishable amount) towards the blue side of the spectrum.
Modern foam is also simply '‘whiter’. In my opinion (and this is probably debatable) Arctic and Millenium is very slightly whiter than US foam although its mostly the resin that matters.
If you get the chance to go to a galss shop and see an EPS blank glassed with optically brightened resin, and you can view it just after the hot coat has set up but before any sanding has taken place, you will be blown away. The boards almost look like the are glowing. Just pure bright beautiful white!
Some of the resins have a blue/purple hue to them in liquid form the entropy epoxy for white boards is almost luminescent, and if you’re in Australia there is a resin called CET that has a distinct blue that makes boards seem whiter.
Not a good thing when you are laminating a timber compsand board, great for a white blank.
Now i have read the others i see im saying the same as all the other guys but i can only talk about the Epoxy resins I have used?
Slater’s board at trestles was super bright.
White flash is a finish speedcoat sold by seabase.http://www.seabase.eu/product/CXW4/Seabase/Coatings-:AND:-Sealants/White-Flash!-Speedcote—1-Litre
Optical brightener in epoxy resin over eps give super bright white board… when new.
Have to say entropy is the brightest epoxy I have ever used.
Heres the one we make in Australia ,
We are calling this “PU Look” colour - the reason is that we are using a colour that is consistent and doesnt have the photochromic pigment like Kinetix.
So in the shops under lights it stays “whiter” and then outside its the same colour. The reason we did this range is we wanted a colour that will stay, not fade out as quickly, so you have an epoxy board that stays the same colour for longer than normal “brighter” epoxies. 18 months to develop.
Use on PU and EPS blanks
