Here it is again. Sundays paper has a coupon it it for the Harbor Freight “Drillmaster” sander/polisher. Good until 8/2/14. Also a $99 8 gallon air compressor… Good back up stuff or for occasional backyard boards. The replacement warranty is available for a few extra bucks as well. Guys have had mostly good luck with them. If you get the sander to hot it will shutdown and you might think its dead. But once it cools down it’s ready to go again. Lowel
Check the balance on those sanders… A good amount are a bit wobbly… give ya some nice sanding swirls you arent expecting.
i’ve got a couple harbor freight sanders. I used to only use them until i got my makitas. now i only use them to grind down boxes and do boat repairs. Not the best sanders at all, but for $30 its a great deal. I used the first one i bought on about 20 boards before it finally died on me. If you’re a backyarder/garage shaper its a pretty good tool to have.
I’ve had one a few years. I’d rate it as a great purchase. Put a good power pad on there and you are good to go.
I’ve had one of those for a couple of years… seems decent but comes with a funky handle. Then I noticed a heavy grinder on display had the correct handle, that would screw right on, so I saved that handle from a lifetime of pipe grinding or whatever and slipped it into the box for my sander. Please don’t tell HF.
I have used these for years, but just for buffing glosses. Unfortunately they just changed the design and ruined the trigger responsiveness! There is a huge delay when you click the trigger and that sucks when you are trying to pulse the trigger around glass ons etc.
Hopefully they go back. Here is a shot of the old style.
