There has been some interest in this in the past. This post from the Oregon Surf Page (also showed up in the Surfer Design forum) details a cheap method of constructing garage boards. I believe Stan P revealed his ideas on this during an early Loehr thread. If the link below does not work go to http://www.oregonsurfpage.com/currents.shtml and then to “alternative message board found here.” You’ll have to read the whole thread to get all the details this person has worked out. Interesting. I hadn’t seen this before and came up with the same methods for making the blank & rocker (Pink XPS report thread). I’m using epoxy to laminate so that I don’t need 3 layers of paint, or two weeks. Mine will work out to more than $35, but then again so will any board that this guy makes. He leaves some material prices out of his figuring… the gallon of UV cure resin runs almost $35 alone, then the cloth costs about $2-3 per yard, and so on. He should probably say - $50 - if you have all the tools. kinda sad to see many of the follow-up questions that indicated that people just didn’t read the whole thing. This is not a new idea, just new to some lately it seems. EJ
