4 Way Fin System: www.4wfs.com

Hi all, best wishes for 2008.

For all those wanting to discuss fin adjustment/positioning and need any assistance with their choice of adaptable fin systems, please feel feel to reply to this post and i will gladly be of assistance.

To Lokbox & Pro-Box, may 2008 be the year of Technology, forward thinking and most importantly, CHANGE!

For too long, our adaptable technologies have gone partially unnoticed or dismissed,

2008 in my opinion, is going to be a year full of technological challenges and change!

Let’s hope our old static fin system competitor’s days are numbered and we can begin to see the growth of a new era in surfboard design and innovation worldwide.

best regards

Dean

hi dean

im building a lightweight sandwich 91 longboard

in your opinion whats a good thruster setup for this

i have a set of your boxes they look very clean

this long board board however is getting a probox install

but il will try yours on a shortboard sometime soon

Silly, are u referring to placements here?

depending on style of longboard but usually 6.5 inches up and 15.5" for the front fins.

1.25 inches off the rail and a 3/16 " toe-in, however, that varies from shape to shape…

let me know how the probox goes, will be stoked when u get your 4 ways in and ride it too.

cheers

deano

cool Huie,

keep up the good work,

all the best for '08

Deano

thanks for that Dean

appreciate it

the board is for shortboard turns

and basically being a complete wave hog

yeah i was after placements

i like the probox

i think it is good for quads and longboards also fits fcs

also larry is a really nice guy to deal with

i think your system looks ideal for thin tail compsands

and making fins for looks nice and simple

i think i can shave off at least 4 mm off the tail with 4wfs

due to its thinner box and smaller footprint

Hey Dean

Got a look at you system recently. What’s the diameter of the plug? I’m a little worried it might have to eat into the balsa rail on a compsand.

Cheers

Karl

the diameter is 2"

the plug is more centrally located unlike fcs so it will be higher up than a traditioanl fcs rear plug set-up.

i have moved my fins in 1" off the rail before and it made it, however i haven’t done it on a compsand with balsa rails.

it depends on how thick the balsa is off the rail, it should be able to handle 1/4" thickness if u want to position 1 1/8 off the rail

hope this helps.

cheers

dean

for those that are interested,

fcs new post is proving very interesting…

check it out…

dean

Thanks

Just measured one of my boards and if the 4wfs plugs sits half way between the FCS plugs it would butt up against but not into the balsa rail. So should work

Karl

yea

and good clean instals too

huie

i know, they look good hey!

just finalizing a few things and then we are ready to showcase our latest product updates to the world!

Charles and Maike in Oz will have soon for you…

all in good time my friend…all in good time! nah kidding! i think Charles is getting his fin shipment Very Very soon

let him know u hanging,

all the best down under

Best regards

Deano

I took a real quick look at your website, and maybe the answers are already there but here goes:

With a Probox or other fin system, whilst surfing and paddling way to the outside with a key,

I can change out fins or adjust the positioning fore and aft without affecting toe-in or cant.

How would you characterize the ability to change out a fin without affecting the other adjustments

whilst in the water?

AND

How would you characterize the ability to move a fin forward or backwards without upsetting toe-in and cant

while floating in the water?

Hey Otis,

The toe-in and cant are set by the ‘interdisc’ in the 4wfs box. You can remove the fin and put another one in without affecting toe or cant… and you can move the fin forwards and back in the disc without affecting toe and cant…

To change cant, you put another color disc in. To change toe, you rotate the disc. Every adjustment is independent.

hey max

      i will take some pics&post

when i get a chance to day

huie

Hey huie,

Do you like the round box or oval box more? It seems to me (being a home builder) that the oval box may be a stronger install even if it does take longer, I’m considering getting some…
