For my 50th, like 6 years ago, I sold both my 9’2" and 9’ logs, deciding that my 7’9" Mal was plenty for his oldster.
Seems I mostly ride my 6’8"er anyways, and only need the 8’ gun for 8’ and over.
Now when I turned 40, I NEEDED the logs, as I couldn’t paddle nearly as well or get up nearly as quickly.
Waiting for another downslide, hope it stays away for a while.

I notice we’re riding like the same sized boards nowadaze.
today I rode the perky 12’1 1/2 ‘’ performance board,
The first 4 miles with a paddle down wind through the mesmerizingly clear water over familiar reefs in the sun,then we loaded up an went to the spot where all the usual suspects were mysteriously gone somewhere and surfed them 12’ers for an hour or so with the offshores raising the difficulty factor…dont get me wrong the bigest wave was about head high and it took me the whole time to line it up.and when I caught that one and rode it to the keyhole in the reef at the beach I knew it was time to go.
we a group of 4 spread over two football filds of ''waikiki clean off shore ‘’ were alone and free of the standard social confusion
As we got out the trickle of confused started to appear.
when we were rolling down the road a shiny new truck with tinted beyond recognition glass and a bed full of boards was rollin in ,a sign we were on ‘the Path’, …well that was a bitchin session to say the least
A success measured by
