any comments would be great.

That is a very straight outline and it looks like those fins are HUGE. What kind of waves are you surfing this in? The glass job looks pretty good, did you have it professionally glassed? Your rails in the tail are a little uneven. It looks like the rails are not too crisp either which doesn’t help in small waves. Your rails in the tail are a little uneven. I am guessing it is not the camera angle as I can see the same amount of fin on each side. That is an unusual bottom contour sequence, let me know how it goes. All things considered though, for a first board that looks really good, WAY better than my first shapes.

Some people on here can give you more advice on the business side, but remember surfers are odd creatures, they need to see the boards validated by other riders. I know a lot of companies make better boards than Al Merrick, but a new Merrick cost 200 more and used Merricks still get like 50 bucks more than other boards in similar condition. I don’t know if you rip, but that will help and if not make some boards for your friends that do for cheap and start building a reputation. Hustling goes a long way. I am from NJ, but am at school in North Carolina. A shaper from North Carolina, Adam when he first expanded his business he drove up the coast with a van and would stop at surf shops and go to the owner “Hi my name is Adam and I make surfboards, you would like to see some of them and buy a few for the shop?” My buddy who was managing saw them, thought they looked good enough bought a few for himself (he was pro at the time and going through boards like  crazy) and a few for the shop too. Adam’s boards were validated by riders in the area, and now the boards are always around.

looks fun , can you tell us how it rides ?

did you get insparation from Larmo ?

Looks awesome man.

Way cooler than my first 8 boards.

Keep at it. You definitely have the possibility of earning your life income from surfboards. And you’ll always be close to the waves.

At age 14 I built my 1st surfboard, and I gave serious thought to going into the business. Maybe some day still to come…

Keep shapin’!
