snub nosed, thick tailed , blocky rails, a bit of nose rocker for a change…
the cutdown and reshaped Cordingley ‘bonzer bottom single fin’ 6’9 ‘ski tail’…
hope it’s going to work [5’7 3/4 is the deck measurement…5’9 the bottom measurement, by the way]…I thought it looked about the same size as the 5’7 ‘stubbie’ in ‘Hicksy’s’ photo earlier…
make some more wood and fibreglass combination fins for the fin box.
At a later date…
possibly one F.C.S. plug each side, for a three fin option.
I want to ride it as a single for at least a year though, preferably.
So, for me , this was many firsts, this board… for narrowness [18 1/2" ] , shortness, thinness …just under 2 1/2" and , some more nose rocker than my other boards have had. Forward foil too.
Also, it’s the first board I’ve done with only one layer glass deck and bottom. (And enamel sprayed, with acrylic oversprayed…)
I’m thinking for my next one (either a mal or the 6’9 stringerless blank) , to do a tint. And a cutlap. Again, with a single fin box…I LOVE them !! A fabric inlay between the two stringers [on the mal] could also be on the cards.
And, epoxy next time…
ben
p.s. - this was my 15th board…the second one I’ve shaped since June this year. If the mal gets done by Christmas [I hope!] , this will be the most boards I’ve ever done in a year…thanks Hicksy, for the shaping room, and for taking the shots mate !
p.p.s. - the “stubbie” will also get glossed if this one does… don’t want any sibling jealousy between them…
Make a bon mal then, Is the mal going to be a Single Fin? For more ideas you could check out the 60s mals on www.surfresearch.com.au and make them with more modern princibles in them.
…and what would the nose and tail width be, 12" from the nose and tail, please Josh…and the pod [tip to tip of the end of the tail, IF it’s a squaretail ?]
cheers mate!
have you got a photo of it anywhere ? who made it ?
