…I have done alot of Supercharger conversions on all kinds of different labels, models, sizes, etc. The board that keeps repeating it self is the A.M. Flyers. In most cases it’s someone trying to ,“on a last ditch effort” make the Flyer work.MOST COMMON COMPLAINTS ARE: they lack drive,no speed, sluggish. …Are their any Flyer owners out there that have simular problems? Most of my conversions did make the board perform much better(I haven’t heard from Rob Hoeck’s Flyer-conversion).I’ve only had one repeat model of another board builder, but today I got another Flyer/conversion inquiry with the common complaints, this makes 14,something is wrong here.Herb

I have been looking for Rob Hoeck every since I hooked him up with an extra set that you sent me. I wanted to find out what he thought about them. I surf quiet a bit in the surrounding area and have yet to see him at all, not even around our small little town. He was probably a spy for Cobra & fcs. I can see it now, supercharged Realm shortboards at my local costco.

The problem with these boards is that people think that an Al board with a wider tail will be the solution to all their problems. The problem is that the ide tail prevents the rail from sinking at the proper angle( no drive). Stiff because of the straight rail line. What they do offer is skate when it’s soft. Most people just need to be on a little bit bigger board with a good curve. aloha, tom
…Thanks tom,That’s the same conclusion I came up with ,also I believe the last foot or so might have too much curve in the outline for the board’s length and design.Herb

I’m still not really happy with it’s performance and think maybe what Tom said has alot to do with it. Seems the flat deck and boxy rails really need to be coupled with alot less thickness to make setting the rail easier. My boards 6’4-183/4-21/4" and I’m thinking about thinning it to 2". Do you guys think this is good or should I just consider another shape. By the way Mike D, I’ll be sure to knock on your door when the first hurricane swell arrives. The flat doldrums of summer drive me nuts here. At least you shapers can get some work done. Take care, Rob.
…I was really hoping it wasn’t a industrial mole thing.SORRY to hear you still don’t like the board.Get together with Mike or someone over on your coast and work with them, you’ll come up with a working machine,I’m sure.Herb
Something is wrong… they bought the wrong board to begin with! I overheard Coral being told, by her Mommy, that if you have nothing nice to say about someone , say nothing at all. Corals Dad told me that the C.I. guy is the biggest scam artist there is. It’s another product shoved down your throat. I don’t know who to believe.

It’s another product shoved > down your throat. I don’t know who to believe. What I meant was “wrong design for that particular person”, and not “bad shaper or surfboard company”… my point was that it seems that if a board is skillfully custom built around its rider, whatever problematic details may arise will likely be specific to that particular case… as opposed to numerous complaints of a similar nature, often resulting from a generic, “flavor of the month” design, purchased off the rack. Just swing by if and or when we get some storm surf.
I have a 6’0 rob machado from CI its awesome maybe the boards those people got were too big for them so they didnt have the snappiness they want as for drive they have FCS change the fins but in any case its more fun to go with the smallest fins you can get without slipping to the bottom of a wave, plus my friend has a flyer and says it totally rocks, not better than mine, but he can still get enough drive to pull airs, if ur complaining about drive get a longboard if you want to surf a shortboard learn to ride like a shortboard
