6"/6.75" Fins Unlimited Boxes for Thruster Instead of Futures, etc?

Has anyone made, ordered or seen a short or mid-length thruster with the 6" or 6.75" FU boxes used for the side and center fins (they’re pictured on the FU website)? Stronger and access to all the FU, True Ames and Rainbow fiberglass catalogue fins over the weak/cheap Futures, FCS, O’Fish’l etc. boxes and fins? Disadvantages? Thanks.

I’ve made what you mention but only in the center…see pic.

Pros

adjustability

strength

Cons

FU fin prices

rail fin availability

feasibility (boxs too deep for rail app and perhaps tail as well…need some thickness in the board to accomodate)

more weigth

If adjustability is your main goal, go with Lokbox. I have been using them in the center but you can go all round setup. Solid install/strength too. For a thruster you dont need a lot of adjustability…half inch or so is plenty. Second pic is a center Lokbox application…ignore the shotty cosmetics, thats a completely reworked board

It’s been done. The boxes tend to be a bit thicker than plugs so on thin railed boards it may be problematic. Greg Liddle, who definitely knows what he’s doing, does his sidebites that way…
