6 x 6oz or 4,4 x 4oz???

Hey, im going to be making a 6' shortboard. i was wondering on glass variations. which would be lighter? one 6oz on deck, one 6 oz on bottom or two 4oz on deck, one 4oz bottom. this will be my 3rd time glassing. i was going to go with the 4oz but then i thought of having to use the extra resin to wet out the two layers of glass. any responses much appreciated!

thanks

If you want a light board, then you want to go with a 4X4 on top with a 4oz on the bottom. You will have to use more resin on top of the board with the two layers, but you should all ready know that? what did you do on your other boards?

As far as strength goes on a short board, 4x4 deck and

4oz bottom is good.  A 4 oz. 1/3 up rear pad if you are

hard on the back foot. You should end up in the 5 1/2 -

6 lb range with a sanded finish.  Strong but with flex.  It

won't last forever, but hey, make another!!!

Yeah i know about having to use more resin, that was my quirey as to which would be lighter. on a 6'4'' i did 6oz on deck, 6oz on bottom. on a 7'6'' mal 6X4oz on deck, 6oz on bottom

all 4 is lighter and enough strength, leave the laps big for more strength, cure well.....

6 top and 6 bott IMHO, feels better to surf then a 4 bot and 4x4 deck…I hate 4 x 4 deck on my standard short boards, messes with the flex (mind you I’m only 68kg). Equal flex is great, I reckon!

4 bottom an 6 deck with toe and heal patches surfs good.

Thats just me though.

Good luck
