60/40 rails

i just finished watching shapping 101 for the tenth time, have cut out 1 half of my template and im getting keener by the minute to get stuck into shapping my first board. i have gone with a 5’11 fish, 21x16.1/2 x16.1/2 and i dont realy know how thick to go. i way 75kg(165lb).were im from the waves on a good day are about head hight usally. i dont realy know what to do with the rails, i know how to do a tucked under edge, but i dont understand what is ment by 50/50, and 60/40 into 1/8". if someone could help my newbi ass out i would be greatfull. also what fins, toe, and cant should i use? cheers heaps

50/50 means that the apex of the rail line is right in the middle of the rail – 50% of the rail is above the apex, 50% of the rail is below the apex. similarly, a 60/40 rail means that the apex is just below the center, such that 60% of the rail is above the apex and 40% is below.

i haven’t made my first fish yet, but the general preference (and what i intend to do with mine) is glassed-on keel fins with no toe-in or cant (meaning that they will be perfectly vertical on the deck and point straight ahead).
