According to an Article in The Surfer’s Journal Vol. 3 #2, The first Tom Morey Invitational held in July 1965, “the nose will consist of the front 25% of the boards length.” The surfer’s in this particular meet were judged only on the time spent on the nose. The surfer with the most time won. There were two winners, regular foot- Mickey Munoz, goofy foot- Corky Carroll.
