A guy brings in this board to the shop yesterday telling us it as been in storage for the past 25-30 years and wants to sell it. The board is 9’3" x 21 3/4" and has the original Wave Set hatchet fin (made out of foam and glass with a faint resin swirl). There are a few dings as you can see in the pictures but overall it is in pretty good shape.
If anyone can give me an Idea of what it may be worth or any history about this model that would be helpful.
Thanks! My reason for posting this was to get info and make sure the customer gets a fair price. The board belonged to his father in law who has since passed on and didn’t give him much info.

The professional was a stock model in the Weber line. Introduced around late '67. It employed many of the design characteristics of the Performer, such as the step deck. They typically had fancier pigment and stringer combinations than the usual off-the-rack models. Many had paisley decks. It would be worth more than a Performer in the same condition, IMO, as fewer were made. The fin would not be foam and glass, as WAVESET never made such a thing. WAVE fins came in two materials - polypropelene and ABS. Yours looks like the poly type.
Thanks Tony! It sure does look like a foam core when you get up close to it but I’ll take your word on it. Any idea of how much we should ask for this board?
Man, that board will clean up nicely. I wish i had my grubby little hands on it!
Yeah, there are some repairs that were not done too well and could be cleaned up easily and only a few others. I would love to take the polisher to this this but would rather let the future owner do whatever they decide.
You should consider that the board sold in that auction looks to be in far better condition than the one in your pics.
This would drop the value about 40%, at least. The other notable difference is the fin system. The auctioned board had to be an early one, due to the wonderbolt. One with a WAVESET box would certainly be later in the run. maybe one of the last few. Also, it’s hard to tell from the photos, but was the bottom re-habbed? The color doesn’t look like it matches the deck rails.
Sammy- I don’t think the color on the bottom has been re-done. I think we have it priced fair and will put an add in the for sale section. Thanks to everyone who replied to this thread!
