6’6’’ Piglet
Great looking board once again noel.
Thanks Beerfan. I have been seeing some beauties over on magicseaweed also. This was a custom from the East coast.
Ha ha…mine. I did just ship a few Spitfires to Oz and New Zealand though.
Which east coast are you talking about? mine or yours?!
Really like the outline of that 6’6", what are the rest of the dim’s? My Dunlop Nugget is a 6’6" and I have a 6’6" Coil thruster, so I guess I got a thing for 6’6"es. Can you get Steve to shape one of these in EPS and with FCS boxes? 2 + 1 would probably be a good option for this board as well. You check Ft Pick any this week? I was out of town so I’ll probably try to catch it on Tue/Wed if the forcast stays consistent, and FINALLY it looks like DP should be pretty good in the morning.
Actually Stevie’s specialty is epoxy. Jimmy is a great shaper and craftsman also as you know. I think Steve is one of the best in the business when it comes to epoxy. Two plus one or any way you like. Shipped a few out made of epoxy. I want to say this board is 14 x 22 x 18 x 3 1/8 around there. GR8…did you go to the paddle out? First time I have been in the water in awhile. Felt good. Even if the waves were tiny. I think we stand to have a long tiny summer.
gorgeous.
what’s your take on the tri vs single setup?
what type of fins do you recommend for the 3-fin config?
I notice a funny thing happening with these boards when you try to do a lateral take off on a steep face…
do you tail slide/side slip a little too on steep stuff?
it happened to me today..i'm thinking bigger fins...my curb it..
true ames a nice set of futures for big guys..

I ride them single, but it's not for everyone. If they are a thruster, you ride them pretty much like a thruster and use the same fins you might for any tail wider than 15''. I still like the old G5 Template and the Rusty FCS templates are nice also. The person who ordered this wanted a single originally, but he is used to thrusters and this will be a main board so I suggested he stick with what he already knows.
I find the Future FPS template really goo in wide tailed boards.
ding ding ding.
ordering a set of 5 1/8" fins from Halcyon and will see how it goes.
love it as a tri regardless, just have to be mindful.
got some great backside schwacks on it too.
what a great design.
yowza...grande fins..
i think the true ames ones i ordered..are 4.75?
i got 4.25-50 in now
nevertheless..the nug worked really well in pitching beach break..
this afternoon..in front of sawgrass...
especially when the wind switched to a strong offshore
I have one of Steve EPS/Epoxy Longboards had him copy his personal LB, oldest board in my quiver, don’t ride it much but it’s nice to have when I feel like riding an LB. Was out of town the weekend of the paddle out.
For people asking about fins I was using PG-7’s but switched over to G-AM’s for a bit more drive.
aloaf,
have you tried out those 5 1/8'' fins?
i got those true ames pro core ci fins (4.60" base /4.70" height)...
and that did the trick. .no more tail slide/side slip.on steep waves .unless i wanna ;-)
and it really holds on the face better and in the pocket..yeah
