No pics of the board?
Nice!
Greg,
I noticed the trailing edge of all your fins appear to curve straight back as opposed to curving forward then backward. Is there a reason for this? Mike
Mike, good eye. I’ll be shocked if GG says no.
Really nice Greg.
All are the same design , area reducing as it moves deeper and rearward in a designed manner .
I really like the progressive tapering in relation to the rake of the leading edge. I bet you get a lot of drive from that fin design.
It maximizes every positive thing a fin can do .
To many effects to list .
( Hold-drive -plane ) with constant release from that , from the base to the tip , all the time . :-)
Greg been busy at work. Try to talk to you later. Did you make that for me?
Greg, is your design based off a Bonzer center fin template? If not, how does it differ?
GG, hope I am still on your keel list. No pressure. Just say when.
All the best
nice fin Greg
I love the fact that you reduce the horizontal width (chord) of you outline to the tip.
This definately reduces the tip vortex and therefore the drag of the fin. It also makes it easier to keep a constant foil from base to tip.
Your work really inspires me.
Edit: I haven’t checked you measurements for this, but have you by any chance tried to reduce the chord length in an elliptical way? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elliptical_wing
Greg, is there someplace I can purchase a fin like this? I’d love to try one. Mike
To all
I am restricted in developing these designs due to the fact that fin makers think I will be too critical of the product and not profitable to do so .
I have something very special to share if someone will make it .
Hey Greg,
I forget if I saw it on your facebook page or website, you had a picture of a whole bunch of fins and alot of notes with regards to what they would do well in.
What was your thought process in how to really nail down what fins worked for what board/conditions? In particular, did you pick one board try a bunch of different fins shapes till something worked good, then changed fin placement? vice versa?
Any pointers are appreciated:)
Thanks,
Jason
Hello Greg,
As i am looking at all your post, you suggested this fin her : http://www.swaylocks.com/forums/channle-islands-mg2-single-fin to a yet to be surfed board. they do look similar, but do you think they are?
Were you inspired by this particular fin?
Cheers!
I was reshaping an old T&C fin and came up with this 7.5"
My fin shapes have never deviated from this concept :-)
From the late 60’s and early 70’s .
This green Parrish fin I posted ,being readily avaiable, is one of the best I have seen
