7' single fin first shape

Hey there,

I spent my last weekend working on my first shape, and I’m now almost done…

Balsa sorry I didn’t call you and dropped by but I’ll definettely do it once the board is finished.

So thanks to all of you

and here are some pix of the thing

…added an opaque resine tinted pinline…

… and finally placed the fin box, used the same resine tint as the pinline…

Still have the finish to do

…first board but definetly not the last

Great first effort. Nice classic wide point forward outline. Looks like it would be great on some of that hollow French beachbreak I always see in the videos. Give us a review when you get it wet.

Hi Foamdust and thanks for your comment,

I’m glad you feel it’s gonna work in this kind of waves 'cause that’s exactly what I made the board for, having in mind that I’m heading in mainland mexico in a month…

cheers

awesome! i hope it brings you through many big hollow shacks. happy surfing mate.

i’m loving the board man.

it’s gonna go great in France and Mex.

i love the no frills approach to equipment for heavy waves.

if it was good enough for Gerry, it’s good enough for you!

right on!

great board i wish my first board came out as good as that

So I finnally got it in the water as one of the 3 boards I brought in Mexico- puerto escondido last month…

And here are my first thoughts on it :

  • too much rocker… the board pushes a bit too much of water, but then it’s kind of forgiving in waves like Puerto, just doesn’t paddle as fast as I wanted.

  • too much volume in the tail

But man, having to get shacked on something I made myself was one of the best feeling ever

ready for number two, it’s gonna be a fish, I’m gonna take more time refinning it so I don’t make the same obvious mistakes that I made on number one. blank is in the garrage, template is on its way
