70's fin?

Have a question. I found a vintage 70’s board online, but it is missing a fin. I really want to buy it but I want to ride the thing and have no idea where I could get a fin for it. Have not checked out the fin box myself so I am not sure what kind it is/was. It almost looks like an o’fishl fin box, but I can see that it has what looks like little brackets in it or something? Any help would be much appreciated.

Need more info. What type/brand of board? Its a Bing Foil. About 7’5".

Its a Bing Foil. About 7’5". Sounds like a G-Systems fin box. They were used in the late 60s early 70s. There were no screws to hold the fin in. Kind of wedge in dovetail notches. Havent seen any of those fins around for a while.

Havent seen any of those fins around for a while. Yeah that sounds about right. Well that is to say they look like dovetails. I am trying to ask the owner, but he hasn’t been much help.

I have seen foils with waveset boxes(I think)-two screw plates inside a plastic box.if that is the case-Juan at oneworldsurf.com or fiberglass fin in Wilmington,Ca(Larry?)can fix you up.

I have a Harbour that is from 1969 that has that same fin and box. No screws or anything to hold it in. I got it about 5 months ago while looking at a Jacobs from that same era. The fin is very unique, I havn’t seen anything like it. It’s injected molded (not laid up glass)9"tall, 6"base. The board is 6’6". No markings on the fin to let you know who made it. It came out with a screw driver prying it up and out at the base. It wasn’t easy.Caps cover the opening on the top of the fin box.

If you really want this board, I would consider checking out some local board repair guys and see if they could route the old box out and put in a Fins Unlimited box before you buy the mentioned board. I think it would be difficult to locate the type of fin that came with the board. Good luck in your search.

But the guy has a couple more that I plan on checking out.
