70's style twin fin fish advice

I’ve seen them in action, 70’s twin fins. Would love to have one. Anyone see the cover of the latest surfer mag? The Tyler Duece has peaked my interest http://www.tylersurfboards.com/surfboards.html At 210 lbs & 6’1", folks have discouraged me from getting one. I’m a logger all the way, would would like to diversify my quiver. Any thoughts? Thanks

John, I am your size and I ride a 6x21x3 Brom Fish. They work really well if you know how to ride a shortboard. Give it a try. http://www.surfenginez.com/ Steve

Ok guys make fun of me. I didnt clear my browser from the last message. SteveA

…Just go bigger in dimentions,to fit your size.Herb

…It was funny!!!Herb

Don’t go to long, if you wanna go with with Steve’s (Brom) boards, they hide a lot of volume, so a 6.4 is a very big board. I own two of his fishes now and the shortest is a 6.0, next time its gonna be a 5.8 for shure. Oh I’m 6.1 myself in kilos I’m 79 my age if you think that matters is 40 (aaoutchs that hurts). Anyway it made me stop riding al my other boards, there a blast, my advice, go for it. Fly fish. Peter Rijk.

John, I weigh 215pounds and am 6’0". I made myself a traditional fish such as the Tyler: Mine is 6’4" x 22 x 3. It floats me very well and catches waves easily. You will find them really fast. I could go down in size but I am pretty fit. I would suggest you aim for about 6’3". Dont skimp on thickness (min 3 inch). These boards are meant to sit on top of the water and go like the clappers. I still havent found the brakes on mine.

That blue fish on Tylers website is a real clean shape. Id love to know the measurements on that thing.

The board on the cover of the new Surfer was shaped by Rich “Toby” Pavel from the Green Room in Ocean Beach. It’s actually quad fin not a twin fin, but everything else is old school Lis style. Rich’s fish are the real deal.

where was that photo taken? judgung from the gloves & booties & palmtrees, it must be NorCal, no? Thanks for all the advice, friends.

Michael, Being that I live right down the street from Tyler Surfboards, I can check out his shop and see if I can snoop the numbers for you. Sometimes big names don’t put all the numbers on their boards, so please don’t get your hopes up too high. Cheers, Erik http://www.mastermindsurfboards.com
