New guy here seeking some knowledge. I have searched the forums and read many old threads, but none could quite answer my question. I have also gone to the Bonzer website but couldnt quite find the answer also.
Set Up:9’0"x23"x3" with two Bonzer Runners, water channel, and a center fin (9").
Question: I want do more nose riding on this board. Whats the optimal center fin size and placment to do this?
Should I move the center fin to the back? Leave it in the center?
The board fast, so i almost feel like i want to slow it down for the nose riding aspect. Is this wrong way of thinking? Getting a bigger base fin with same depth (9")?
One of the “complaints” we used to get about the Bonzer noseriders “SDKT” was they were too fast and out ran slow crappy waves. The boards were not designed for slow crappy waves…A picture of your board might help. I designed a fin for the Bonzers that solved some of the problems kind of a boomerang type fin. Worked really good, even in single fin noserider boards, but loved to catch kelp. Maybe adding a deck kickpad with a high back part and a big fat leash, that part is sort of a joke, might slow it down. Moving fins out of the “sweet spot” might make it noseride better but turn like crap.
Found one in yard other buried in a box…The small one would have been used in a standard Bonzer all size boards. The larger one in a single fin board. They worked good.
Another option would be to remove the side fins replace with FCS plug or some other fin system get a set of runner and diffrent center fins. This way you can experiment to get the ride you are looking for.
I just might have someone put in boxes for me so I can play with the setup. Thanks for the pic. Might just wait till I get better and do the boxes now.
