My brother in law built this board under my advice. He wanted a really big board for the really small wave days. not bad for a first timer. Now It’s ready to be glassed.

Great stuff! now thats a glide machine!
OK, I’ll bite, what is that section across the nose, can you show a rail view as well
Great looking board, gonna look unreal when it’s glassed. What fin/s is he going to be using?
Howzit Hicksy, Is that a delam of the wood on the right side of the picture, sure looks like one to me.Aloha,Kokua
Sure does, doesn’t it. It either needs to be sanded flat or glued back down.
Looks like a step down to the nose that’s why I’d like to see a profile shot of it.
It looks like a board built to the plans off ebay (evensteven) - they have a “joint” in the top/bottom skin (built using 8 ft thin plywood). here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/SURF-IT-LONG-BUILD-A-LONGBOARD-SURFBOARD-PLANS-ALL-WOOD_W0QQitemZ7210432149QQcategoryZ114252QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I just got the plans to see how it compares with Paul, Roys, other approaches.
It’s a strip of cedar, we had to joint 2 lenghts of plywood to achieve the 9’4’’ lenght, since plywood is only 8’ long. It’s not glued yet, that’s why it looks like a delamination.
More pics coming soon, I dont have enough space to take them, I need to move the board to a more open area.
Rails are 50/50, until the last foot or so, where they become harder. I let my brother in law do all the shaping, he was amazed walking from nose to tail (and back) with his new belt sander.
Fin is gonna be a 10" hatchet style.

Don’t forget to drill the vent hole as soon as the board is fully glued up…or
POP!!!
Thanks Hicks. this is my fourth board, I know enough about vent holes and boards poping.
