A 6’8 Jim Banks thruster . [Good ol’ council collections , eh ?! ]
A nose to fix , and there is one small hole in the bottom …I hope to be surfing it by this time next week . (I can hardly wait …this will be the first glassed on fins thruster I have ridden since 1996 !! )
the thruster that Andrew has and rode a bit (???) was about a 6’10 originally but he found it with the nose missing and rounded off. he started riding it like that and it seemed fine. ugly as a bucket of vomit though, especially with that colourful deck and the primitive deck grip.
i know what you’re thinking… “who is he to be calling something primitive??”
I could have done with that board a few weeks ago when I visited. Pity you din’t have it then. My 6’1 was a bit loose in the bigger stuff. I’d forgotten the power and speeed of West Australian waves. But I was reminded pretty quick.
taken with the $60aus digital camera “shark attack survivor Brad” bought at a swapmeet a few weeks back …THANKS , Brad !!!
[I’ll just have to wait a few months for deeper banks and more swell…don’t want to risk resnapping the nose in 1’ deep water . I hit bottom so hard last monday with my head and my elbow I thought I had broken something , for sure]
I liked this boards’ outline ,when I first saw it in John’s back garden . And after SO many years of not having ridden a [‘glassed on fins’] thruster , THIS will be the board to get me back into it !
…who knows , maybe I’ll get rid of all my relics , and " ride a normal board " for a few years ? Shouldn’t do any harm to my surfing … hopefully…
whoa, I am in shock , pops ! You have a thruster you’re actually going to ride ?? and a computer AND a digital camera, too ??? Oh man , it looks like you CAN teach an old dog new tricks , after all. I’m speechless.
