I know this shape isn’t “totally” new, but how do you think something like this would ride? I’m thinking of making it in the 5’10"-6’0" range, very flat bottom, with soft 50/50 style rails down to a few inches before the center fin, where it would then get fairly hard. The middle fin would be boxed, with a pretty flexy fin, and then two very shallow sidebites.
i have never seen anything like that yet. What is the goal of the two trailers. Up to the tail has good “typical” shape. Some how your stringer is off to the left.
I know the template/stringer isn’t perfect, I just whipped it up in Illustrator after sketching it out on paper in the garage…My thinking for the sidebites/trailer fins is that they’d hold the board into the wave more on a steeper wave, no? The fin dimensions aren’t neccessarily to dimension either…I was actually thinking of making the sidebites real shallow (maybe 3" tall) and loooong (maybe 8-10")…
Oh yeah baby…This is getting fun now. I could be up all night

stellar solution for a full-on driveoffthebottom,kneel-o [ as I have herd it said] gun… forward center fin ,resistance trailers, elongates wheelbase …ambrose…'variety is the spice of life
', i heard Don Peters say that
Lol…Ok ambrose, so in laymens terms…It’s a “no go” huh? What about without the side fins.
i think he meant that he liked it…side fins and all.
Shape it build it and ride it, you’ll never know if you dont try.
cheers

might as well try it…its only about a buck fifty a try… as i was thinking about the shape i thought about maybe the effect of a swallow tail with small( about the size of first side bite fins on a C5) as fins in the swallow. But then placing it on your shape i had a hard time seeing it.
Of course, build it, surf it, rip on it…but…
The 2 boards I had made with fin setup like that were extremely tracky, even in 6-8’ hollow OBSF waves, as the 2 tail side fins were farther from rear foot than the pivoting center fin, the opposite concept of the Simon Tri Fin idea. Second one, I even tried 3" side bites, stiff as a 8’ gun (on a 6’3" x 20 squash tail), I ended up grinding the sides off and the board became OK.
I’d place big single about 6" up from tip of tail, side bites 9" up from tip of corners.
Shape of tail is what is currently used in lots of state of the art, fast windsurf boards. But windsurf boards aren’t made to turn quickly, ARE made to track straight, unwet as speed increases, kinda a different concept than surfing.
Of course, you can alway grind off the tail fins, if it’s too stiff. Seems turning a surfboard is closer to turning a snowboard in powder than what we always thought. Tail needs to slide some amount, pivoting mainly off center of fin cluster.

My interpretation:
I say…IT’LL NEVER TURN…
fine if you like going straight. might be able to cutback on the rarest of occassions.
perfect choice for a fast kneeboard gun…That crazy fin configuration you have going on will only
make it stiffer…ambrose…But hey, to each his own!
#% I heard some dude say that
You gotta go to know ,I said that…
once you go you know only within the parameters of your sampling
…take down the side bites to the 1/4 inch/…
kick the tail up to as much as two inches off the depth of centerline vee apexing 4 inches ahead of vee with i/2 inch of concave on the vee-planes
trailing fins of flex membrane material supple like bodyboard skin material with 2 maybe three layers of 6 oz stiffners laminated between skins…
you got it right ten.
oveer and over we must retry our inspired thoughts and tweak-em left and right of center line in three dimensional space …and then by some mysteerious mistaken turn we may achieve the millinium falcon jump to light speed, and then we ditch the degoba gravitational grip and the forces of the dark side and cutloose into pure unfettered space to commune with like minded friends … ambrose … to plain english it might discourage a pure inspiration … like pissing on a rose … better to dilute the urea with water and feed the rose at the dripline and make a huge pungent bloom to inspire Carmen to love and lust
ZoSurf, someone has been listening in on our “p.m.s”… or, you’ve been ‘talking’ ! [that’s okay…tfad at surfer knows about this design, also… we’ve talked previously on the same thing !]
tenover, DO it, and please let me know how it rides. Maybe it can be in the swaylocks video, with the ‘S.O.S.’ and the ‘scary monster’.
Mark , still bored ? “…nothing interesting ever happens here”… etc …hehehe
ben
Scott,
Shape it as you want, except put three long fin boxes in where the fins go. With that set up you can move the side bites forward of the center fin or move them behind the center fin. Errrr, big fin. little fin, red fin, blue fin. Just set them pretty parallel the stringer, but you’ll be doing that anyways with a Fish/Eggy trash can liddy shape. You can call it the BATMOBILE, I’m seeing it in a yellow & black swirl, with green pinlines
