OK folks, planning a Swaylocks get together/Tsunami fund raiser on Kauai, question is WHO would be interested and WHEN would be the best time.
Let’s hear it now… we are talking Kauai, a get together, surf expression session, raffle, food, and probably an auction of some kind…
We will have a pre-event raffle in which one or more of the prizes would be airfare to Kauai…just to get more people involved…

im a long time swaylock observer ive learn so much from this site it unreal as well as very insightful. i cant even begin to explain the wealth of knowledge ive gained from everyone here,even roy. I consider my self a very fortunate man to be able to live and surf on the garden island im also greatful to have such a great friend and mentor as ambrose curry the third. i would like to offer a place to stay to any of my swaylock brothers that may attend this meeting .i could handle three guest .i have a large yard with out side showers and live across the street from some pretty good surf . a tent would be the way to go id be stoked if you came this is a great cause and would like to help any way i can. aloha jimmy

Geez Lee you’re gonna scare everybody off! Need to change weeks I guess, there are definitely peak periods, spring break/Easter being one of them. So how about in mid-April or early May?
Let’s see, on Hawaiian Air web page special, leaving on a Thursday and returning on a Tuesday (or Wed or Thurs) anytime between April 11 and June 9, the is a round trip fare from San Diego to Honolulu for $279 per person. (There are similar cheap (but a little higher) fares from San Fran, Portland, Seattle etc)…Interisland to Kauai, add $100. So that would be $379 each.
(Wow, I could buy a costco board for that… but why?)
How about the weekend of April 16-17 (celebrate being finished with your taxes) or if that doesn’t work for folks, how about May 7-8 (what better place to celebrate Mother’s Day?)

Howzit Keith, Interisland flight prices a pretty steep these days and $100 will only get you a one way fare. Best bet is see if you can get a direct flight to Kauai or such a cheap flight to Oahu that will leave enough $ for the round trip interisland. Check into packages that would also get you to outer island for a decent price. Int4er island travel is not what it used to be, there’s no more just going to the gate and getting on a flight. Many a times I would have a reservation and get to the airport way early and they would let me get on an earlier plane but no more they make you stick to your reservation. Aloha,Kokua
Howzit Kokua, those were actual prices from flights, the $100 interisland RT was only if added onto a flight from the mainland.
Gotta shop around, that’s for sure. Day of the week makes a huge difference in airfares too…

I like the raffle for an airfare idea, I’ve already planned to go surfing for a week at the end of March, just hanging out in my own backyard break really, but I love the idea of going somewhere a bit more exotic (and warmer) and meeting up with some other guys from swaylocks.
and all in the name of a good cause too.
OK, if we do raffle off RT to Kauai, should it be for one ticket, or two?
e.g., LeeV can’t LeeV his wife behind, so maybe 2 tickets would be better for a lot of people…
and I think we need to settle on a date for the event first…
