According to Kelly Slater "

Best surf they have ever had for a comp"

That was pretty good. Owen’s a gutsy guy paddling back out after the beating.  I don’t pay much attention to the pro game, but that was good.  Owen was good in Shanghai Noon with Jacki Chan, too.  Mike

you are a true rennaissance man, Rooster.

i don’t usually pay too much attention to the pro game either…

but, those waves!

Owen was a beast for taking that beating and paddling back out…

the real final was between Slater and John John. unreal!

People just have short memories and naturally want to claim the latest as the best ever.  Sorry, but I recall at least two Pipe contests and a couple others across the globe that were better.  PS:  For me a contest broadcast in flawless reef barrels gets boring after a while.

I love the heat analyzer function. I can go back and watch what I want. Like Fiji from 2013 or J Bay this year. The Tom Curran 10 point wave…woohoo!

yeeaaahhh Cap’n!

Curren’s wave was as good or better than a lot of the “competitor’s” waves.

like i said before, i don’t watch a lot of contests. Tahiti I watch because the potential for the waves to be spectacular is there.

I have NEVER seen another contest whith heavier waves.

Top guys pulling back on waves that the likes of Pete Mel, Strider Wasilewski, John John Florence, Ross Williams, etc are calling unrideable.

Lot’s of the top pros were taking absolute FLOGGINGS and putting it on the line for some amazing rides which absolutely does NOT reflect in the outcome of the contest.

Still, the heat between Kelly and John John was epic! that was the real final imo.
