Anyone tried Aerialite warp enhanced as well as plain weave? Was it a nightmare to work with? I’ve had enough of JPS. I’ve tried Aerialite before (nice stuff) but I’ve never tried Aerialite warp though.
Ive used Aerialite 4 Oz flat and Aerialite 5 OZ combi ( 4 Oz warp running lengthwise and 6 Oz flat running sideways)
both real easy to work with, warp threads dont seem to wet out quite as well as flat lay but no real issue, more cosmetic.
Hexcel is whiter and clearer than and Aerialite I have used.
Have not used JPS so can’t compare.

I got the Hexcel from Seabase at the Mount, but they haven’t got anymore!
They don’t seem to carry much stock and you can only buy cloth by the roll.
Their prices are good, but all they have at the moment is the Aerilite 5 Oz combi.
Do you get your JPS from Bryan at Hardcore? whats it like?
I would love another roll of hexcel 4 Oz, I’ve only got about 6 m left or I would happly help ya out with some.

I have plenty of 6 Oz volan (1 metre wide) for $5.50 p/metre, great for retro look or over wood.
I think JPS is geting worse in quality. More like boat cloth if the last lot I had was anything to go by. I’ve had nothing but good experiences with Aerialite. If I hear of any Hexcel I’ll let you know.
Howzit Dean, Some of JPS fiberglass is made in Asia. I found this out after ordering a roll of 4 oz and the roll was almost twice as big as usual so I asked F.H. why and that’s when they told me it was from Asia. US made rolls are usually around 175 yards and the ones from Asia are about 275 yards.Aloha,Kokua
I just layed up a board using Aeralite 4 oz. for the first time.
The cloth is stiffer than Hexel, and it didn’t lay flat as easily. There were folds in the material until I used a 4" paint brush to smooth it out. Once that was done, everything went fine.
It’s supposed to be more impact resistant and a bit stiffer than E glass. The board I did is epoxy, so we’ll see how it performs once it’s launched.
