Air brush or cut lap???? Does it really matter???
Kudos Ray! Trompe l'oeil art is a genre with a long tradition and rich history of decorative function, deception and tomfoolery.
ha ha ha ....pigment or paint,,,,real pin line or not......wood rails...no way....big time faker....funny funny stuff.....get over it...have fun today...........Low Tech Lab...............

Virgins? ...
Back in the day i did a lot of falsa wood sprays. They were popular around the time the movie Big Wednesday was released, Nice work might have to do a tail block one of these days.
Sam Cody would have “wrapped” the paint around the rail so well that it would have been very difficult to tell the real from the fake, that is no atempt to make it look like the real deal

I asked the girl second from right if she wanted " to come and see my religious etchings at my place ?"
....she said she wanted nun of that !
speaking of deception ...
before ....
? after ? ....
how [s]he walked ...
what only a few see [the REAL story !] ....
yes , you can tell the difference, when you ride it Ray…which is how it should be…but asthetics is always such a pleasing thing about surfboards…I love good airbrush work…it’s art…and boards have always been a truely great canvas for artists…
"Falsa"---------- Seen some obvious paint jobs and others that at first glance would completly fool you. Key words; "first glance".

Yes...the trained eye can tell....that's why I did it that way...so that people like you would know it was fake....but the fools don't know.

The people I deal with Can Not tell the difference between poly and epoxy. Most have been surfing over 20 years. Most have been bullshitted so many times by the industry they don't know what to belive.
I've ben working lots of extra hours at the real job. It was nice to get a day off to finish up this longboard for a good friend of mine...I'm really Stoked on this project! The surfboard has One Basswood stringer. The rest are fake. The tail block is real wood. The thin strip of white wood on the tail block is a paint stir stick...It's all for fun.....I bought the "wood" fin at a local surf shop...the more I look at it the more I think it might be a laminate!!!!! And yes all you longboard super stars,,,,the fin should be farther back....but when I get past the photo trickery there's a good chance the board will become a 2+1.
Oh yeah...one more thing...the board has never seen a buffer...ha ha ,,,we can talk about that one later. Have a great day
Ray
Nice work Stingray !.. the point where the painted stringers meet at the rail is always a dead giveaway , but thats not a critisism, the board looks neat as !
hiya Ray , how ya going ?
how do we KNOW the tail block is REAL now , Ray ? :)
[the only thing with trickery is
...people may start to wonder / questtion just what really IS "real" , after a while !]
if a polyurethane blank was glassed with epoxy , for instance ...does that make it "an epoxy board" ....
or is it the lighter weight polystyrene foam glassed with epoxy , that makes it a "real" 'epoxy board " ??
does it even really matter .... :)
[ if I overANALysed everything , surfing and boards might cease to be fun for me ]
Anyway , nice work !
I hope you're getting waves , mate ?
cheers !
[....here in 'wozzieland' ....we are still getting lots of S H A R K S , instead ...see "yikes !" thread]
