Just wondering if it is necessary to fine sand the hotcoat before applying the airbrush? I was going to sand at 80grit and then airbrush. Thanks for all the help.
I would do 180 at least go to 120
otherwise the deep scratches of 80 gt will pool a bunch of paint and show… unless you lay your paint on thick, which is a no no…
If the scratches are too deep (80 grit is too deep) then the paint sneeks under the tape and leaves irritating micro-lines of color. I’d go to 220 or 320 and sand parallel to the tape line, so the paint has less of a chance to travel under the tape. Doug
paint wont bleed @ 180 if you clean the board and press your tape down hard. if you use too high a grit, the paint might not stick as well, too low and it will catch too much paint and/or bleed. i wouldnt go higher than 220 used dry. spray lightly!
Thanks all. How much paint should I spray on? I want to cover some yellow spots I have from over sanding.
