where do you find that wood at? I did half templates for a spin template, and used finishing nails, and a flexible yard stick from ace hardware.draw inside the bent stick -it works well! I’m just wanting a pop out template! But I’ll get my grubbies dirty! :/I’ll get on it! Thanks guys.
Sticks come from trees. Smaller sticks are made from bigger sticks. Smaller sticks are sold at Home Depot.
Go walk the lumber department at Home Depot. There you can find all the stick your heart can desire. You can find Stiff sticks, bendy sticks, long sticks, short sticks, expensive sticks, cheap sticks.
And I made a AKU shaper machine(CNC) from my moms computer, some left over wire, and a broken toaster I found in the trash can, and some ball bearings. Don’t beleive these kooks that say a fancy shaping machine cost a lot of money…Ha haaa, I made mine for about $50.00 and a little know how. I looked it all up on Youtube, and now I’m a real deal shaper.
Dude, Don’t call me out. I’ve been making boards for 10 months now, and I’m gettng preatty good. My machine is insane and I’m going to go legite in a few.
Actually, I probably said something to the effect that if the CURVES don’t match up perfectly with your navigation marks, don’t worry about it. We want clean curves. This piece of advice is something I picked up from Bill T. several years ago. Mike
Well, the way he came out -without pics, board etc… I just thought he was pulling my leg. I still would like to see a board shaped w it. There’s a lot of pranks online, so ya never know. Laugh a little! I think there’s way too much seriousness on swayz. I think we all need a pbr!
I just wonder how many blanks get screwed by cnc per year? Example:Board was set up crooked by dopey half asleep shaper, Board comes out with a rail in da sides, but not da other side…blank is now history…Or shaper hit wrong buttons and nose rocker is pencil thin…anyone know of any cnc blunders outhere?
in all seriousness i can respect the CNC world. im sure back when foam blanks started if they could have made them on CNC like they do now, they would have. At the time maybe the skil 100 and a trained craftsman was the best option coughcough still is coughcough
CNC is cool though, you could probably make some crazy stuff on cnc that you couldnt make by hand.
Damn, you’d think he’d call it quits after ruining one blank - let alone 3! The guy should have listened to you. That’s worse than goin on a bad date! hope he atleast learned how to run the planer -Jesus!
Id use cnc - but I can’t afford it! Its 65 k for a cnc shaping machine!
Dunno, but there’s no purpose in having one unless you have booku customers buying ur board’s. If you’re only selling ten or twenty board’s a mos - you really don’t need a shaping machine.
Youd have to make the gantry higher with a longer Z axis, and extend the table by a foot or so but hey its still CNC! It includes all the electronics and a basic computer too hookit all up too.
yes, I’m serious, it’s 65k. That said, I think you get training on how to run it. Not sure of a warranty bcuz I didn’t ask. Like I said, I can’t swing one.to get one I’d have to start sellin sum serious board 1st… anything’s possible!? But I enjoy handshapin!
why would you pay that for one when you can just save your board file to a usb and have it cut at aku or one of the other companies that cut boards lol
And no , my mate didnt learn to use a planer at all, infact he never even put one near a blank, just rasped away with a surform and shit til no foam left.
luckily only 20dollar blanks but still coulda been used to actually build a board.
