Aku Shaper software

I’ll ask you guys directly, IS there a market for a machine that could put out 99% shaped blanks? May only need final screening, and signing? I’ve got a few ideas in the works…

Dave

NO!

You can do that already. It takes a bit longer. However Shapers would never pay the extra so they finish the last 8% to save dough. You can also build a machine that will cut a complete board in 3 to 4 minutes with little finish work left. However it would cost $250,000. The technology is already here. There’s no money in surfboards so why throw more money at it? The ROI is not there. Basic economics!

true… Most the machines in existence can perform a close to finished product. A machine that finishes near perfect and fast would be a perfect fit for oveseas factories I can’t see it really making sense for Most board builders unless you can build it for a squirt of piss.

I’m not sure if you guys have already put this together, but it is my honest opinion that when all the dust settles from foam distributors and the CNC end, and the anti over seas market ETC, that the ONLY winners that can come of this situation would be a distributor that offers surfboard blanks, with the option of CNC, and finally marketing to not only the heavy hitters of the industry but including the backyard shaper’s and finally make everything available equally. This would set the stage for a brighter future.

Whether you are Al Merrick or Joe Shaper, you can cooperate with a single source to recieve raw blanks or shaped CNC blanks to your specs.

This is the solution and will be a final outcome in the not too distant future.

Shoots,

Tyson

Unless it can do a board on the same time and it cost the same or less than top of the line machines today, no. I think final sanding after the machine is done takes maybe five minutes. Which means you can complete the sanding of the board while you wait for the machine to finish the next one.

I have only recently ventured into the machined boards era as torn cartilage and arthritis in both elbows has put a hinder in my small scale shaping duties. I brought my “preshaped” blanks home to finish, showed them to my true machinist friend, which he promptly discounted the rough, unrefined archaic product. This is a guy who runs eight axis machines, and regularly machines prototype parts for the aerospace industry and motorcycle race parts for the superbike series, the guy’s got skills. Although I’m sure there has been many stringent attempts within the surf industry to make the “next generation” of shaping equipment it sometimes (even if it fails) takes an outside the mainstream ideology to make a progression. Of course I may just be delusional and no doubt naive on the subject, I will continue to look towards progress…

Go for it Dude!

The economy needs you.

I hear ya… Good luck and get ready to open your wallet wide. Beware the engineers they do things very engineeresque for the most part… You have to manage them and get them to drop their chalkboard theories. You would not believe what some may come up with but in the end if it does not make sense for the end user from a cost perspective it ends up being an expensive venture. The other interesting fact is that shaping machines are great but glassing is still an issue which could create a counter to the concept.

On a side note:

General Freeze I hear what you have been saying and you know it is not true! We have eyes and ears all over the world. I’m sure your little Aku’ders feel comforted by your story for now. I appreciate you trying to cover your arse but really now do you realy think lies and execuses will right your wrongs? Your best bet is to return what you have stolen or refund our money. We are forgiving people. I’m really sorry that we have capabilities above and beyond what you ever thought. Sometimes you should dig deeper into whom you try to F’OVER it could create a MONSTER.

Happy Thanksgiving we wish you a wonderful day… Gotta go pull 12 birds out of the IMU…

Have a drink on us old friend…

“We dont need to talk pideon cause we are real Hawaiians”

give them a break its tg day

what time you pulling the birds out

If you’re someone who’s looking to get some boards done absolutely. If you’re a distributor with a CNC machine with glassing services etc all I can say is good luck. Machines are arriving by the week and it’s getting more competitive for less money by the day.

Technology advances very fast. It becomes less expensive and well needed improvements made. Advanced technology incubates at the top of the tree and eventually trickles down into the root system… That is why its important to have agnostic software. At one point I thought it important to work within a homogenous type system not counting on a dictator rising. As system similar to apple’s Hardware designed for it’s OS. However the ability for one to take complete control on a whim is dangerous. It proves to be the most unstable environment of all. With today’s econ issues it could be as easy as a company going out of business which could endanger many company’s relying on a closed system. The reality is open or closed systems all have issues and therfore counters any advantage this concept may have.

ahhhh sh$t here comes another tick!

Today you have no issues business as usual everything perfect you are feeling great about how things are going boards milled checks cashed you make plans for future growth and have a feasable strategy.

Tommorow you may be held hostage, taken over, left in the dark if you refuse to conform to the mighty empires plans. You can’t resist or speak against the mighty empire, they will force your allegiance and if you disobey they make you suffer. They use their control mechanism to instill fear which has worked on most.

“Shhhh be quiet you are putting us at risk! Don’t go against them or they will take everything away! I’m scared they will shut us down as well…”

Throughout history I have read about similar antics deployed by leaders some of the most horrific in history. I mean Hell go watch the star wars saga you will find many of the same principles deployed by the sith! A planned betrayal, a control mechanism deployed, and finally an overthrow executed all for power and total control.

I think I will make myself a bird sandwich…

KAAAAWWWW KAAAAWWWWW KAAAAAWWWWW

Welcome to the anti piracy movement. Unfortunately it cost you far more than a game…

http://aps3000.com/display/about/team

i wonder if their machine comes with stormtroopers?

Really not understanding your post. It appears you want a reaction so I will provide one as I sit and ponder with a cold beer.

I never really liked bullies nor phony punks that role promises off their toungues. I especially don’t like people who lie and give advantages to those that assist oversea manufactring for a few bucks.

Money I have lost but money I have so now I take it personal they made it this way.

I await their reply…

Trust me my friend we have track record of winning. We will bite scratch kick crawl till the end…

Just watch…

Apologies for not making myself clearer. I believe Jimmy himself stated that he was suing Miki for patent infringement in regards to the APS3000 software. What better way to protect the new Aku Shaper software than by using some sort of anti piracy measure(s). Why you’d need them is beyond me and I’m just speculating that they have been added automatically via internet update. My second guess is that the anti piracy protection (if it has been added) doesn’t work like it should and has led to some broken software. Or it does work and is intended to force you to upgrade…

I would have liked to keep out of this but that is interesting. Who told you that Jimmy sues me for software patent infringements? He does not even have a patent I know off and I am usually very well informed. The APS3000 software belongs to me too, it is not only Jimmy’s and Ralf’s work. Not at all. Actually, Jimmy’s input was quite very small as he stated himself. He is not smart enough he said… Check it out, Google for www.surfmanagementsystems. com - history. Every page is still available, history does not disappear on the net and stories do not change. Love it…

http://web.archive.org/web/*/www.surfmanagementsystems.com

Please tell me who told you crap like that, am keen to know. Very keen in deed.

This is not a case of software piracy and / or piracy counter actions anyway. As far as I understand meanshapes has paid for a legal software license (how much?) but was shut down via the internet because…

he is a native Hawaiian?

he has a lovely wife? hello Susan…

he is a competitor?

he has a big sack? poor guy…

his board designs were getting too good?

he placed the tangents wrong?

he copied my outlines? How did they know?

because they tried to avoid the lame legal system?

he looked like an easy target?

he was just one of many?

because they could?

because he sold parts of his APS3000?

In any way, that would be theft in my humble oppinion. Correct me if I am wrong.

Besides the point anyway, if I have software on my computer that spies on me, I get rid of it.

When I was in puperty my parents told me that I will wake up with whom I go to bed. For over 40 years I took this warning as a challenge and enjoyed every sun rise. But then there was … ah well hangover time…

All I am interested in is one open question: is Aku a fish, a bird or a rat? Is an Aku big enough to hide the real thing? Is an Aku a plastic stimulator? Is an AKU soft enough to twist the truth 90 deg?

You add one letter or number to the truth and you end up with … a lie. Keep that in mind. The pacific hides no secrets… love that ocean…

So, if I get AKU’d, are there feathers sticking out my rear end or a tail? Or a hairy, wet nose? It worries me. I feel like aku’d but do not want to look. What do I feel when I touch it, don’t want to look… too scared…

Dear Steve,

What software are you using to cut your boards on your 3 machines? Shape3D or our software? Its my understanding that Miki is trying to sell machines to people with pirated versions our software. This is a horrible business practice. Whether or not you think machine is Miki’s is fine, I’m not convinced, and that discussion has already been had. But there is no question that the software is my father’s and my invention and our property.

For him to be selling machines to people and not telling them the truth about what they are getting and what they really own is absurd, and also copyright infringement.

When we decided to stop being partners with Miki you had wrote that you didn’t want us to contact you again, as based on your rhetoric in this post, it is clear that you’re in Miki’s back pocket. I am almost positive he pushed you to writing this post, I know exactly how he works (of course this will be denied). I will even go so far as saying the he wrote part of the post for you, this claim is based on the grammar and wording of your post (and of course all of this will be vehemently denied). I worked with him closely for almost 6 years. He’s a hell of a salesman, but his ethics are suspect.

Look I’m not going to get into another discussion on Miki and our relationship, for those interested, there is long thread on this site some time ago which covers all this.

I’m glad you like the machines that you currently own, that’s good. But, I’ve seen a lot of these machines in action, APS3000 and Aku Shaper. Improvements have been made to the machines, as expected on any piece of machinery, and the results are better boards. APS3000 machines still cut very good boards, no doubt, but with time and people working, improvements and adjustments are made to the machinery and software. Now on our newer machines, the boards come out more accurate, handle blank imperfections much better and don’t drift. A good attentive operator, as you claim to be, can get either machine to cut very nice boards.

You wrote:

EPS without stringer will deform cause of gravity. Your “improved” holding system will not change that.

Yes it does, we compensate for that.

When people who are very experienced with CNC machining see our machine in action, APS3000 or Aku Shaper, on of the first things they comment on is how impressed they are on the motion of the cutting file. That is from the software. Every board cut on every machine that uses our software has that technology. Hence, pictures from boards cut on our older generation machines and our new machines on our website. The software is an important part of the equation, it tells the machine where to go.

Bottom line is Miki lied to us and stole from us so we stopped working with him. At the same time he was lying to all the other people he worked with so they stopped working with him. You know them, there’s are a handful of them in your backyard.

I wish this post could have been more about surfboard technology and less about this shit.

Jimmy

That’s where I got the notion from. Although I must admit it says nothing about suing (my mistake).

I have to admit myself though, if it wasn’t for Haavard, I couldn’t get my files cut.

i hope it’s not a native hawaiian issue. I have known mike and the boys for 8 years and that’s a topic i would stay way clear of trust me I made that mistake once. These AKU guys obviously think very highly of themselves and like many empire’s they will eventually fall. I have heard all the stories about dr freeze It seems like your dealing with a spoiled kid.

On a brighter note, I received an email from Ralph Freese stating:

“… we do understand your interest in open source (several of my academic projects are open source). So, in order to respect your intellectual property rights, we will remove your code from our program.”

So our little problem is solved. To the rest of you, best of luck…

regards,

HÃ¥vard

tick tick aargggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

What man starts a letter to another man with “Dear”

I bet whomever wrote that letter would blow on a mans dice for good luck at the craps table…

If they think their software is so magical ask them to explain why it makes angel wings? Or better yet why they lied about the software not being able to eliminate them… They blamed the machine parameters Bull $hit!

What about the mechanical improvements?

When I asked they told me “it really wasn’t worth it… The difference isn’t worth the money spent”

Then on your website you claim the AKU machine is way better!!

LAME LAME LAME CONTRADICTION LIES AND DECEIT>

2 year software mechanical and software upgrades? You stole the design changed it (so called improved it) this happened in month 18 we were USA install 2 so actually they owe all the APS3000 customers these mechanical upgrades.

Words from General Freeze “if we make any improvments to software or hardware we will make it available either free or for a small fee for our customers” BULL $HIT!

oh mike if you want us to fly my engineer there to retrofit your machine it would cost 5k… Small fee hahahahahahah I wouldn’t let that a$$ monkey touch my machine I would be to afraid he would copy the improvements we machined ourselves to better handle airy eps foam…

Regardless of what General Freeze is saying… “We had no intention of distributing the software… We think they should give up their imperialistic dreams and make it available for all providing an option”

Besides if we wanted it that bad we could get TRUST ME and it would cost me very little! But we follow rules and respect peoples intellectual property “ASK MIKI” even though i believe that program belongs to the shapers that helped develop it. Who gave them the idea’s neither one of their key tappers ever built a surfboard…

man what a bunch of bs. You sure they don’t sell cars? USED ONES!

You still use use the domain APS3000 so you are admitting liability…

step up!

Thats great.
