Aloha from Waikiki

Surfing from sunrise to sunset. Met fellow Swaylockians Richard & Amy, Mark from Colo, Dave from Honolulu, on the outside line! Great people! Small world!

Great waves. Best sessions early morning and late pm. High noon (when paddling out) you face the “freeway” coming at ya. Maybe 20 softtop and rental boards headed straight at you, with 75% them wiping out on takeoff. Boards pogo everywhere. Next time we’ll bring my soon-to-be-designed “Waikiki Assault Board.” I’ll make it 11’, 7" thick, 28" wide, dings everywhere, old yellow foam, and maybe some skull & crossbones on the nose to signify how many other boards I’ve hit! Of course, all the rental groms will probaly say, “cool board!”

Surfed a rare swell on North Shore - solid 4-5.

Hawaii is da kine. Water is 80 degrees. Clean and clear. Everyone has a smile. Haven’t seen too much stink-eye. My son loves it here. My wife loves it here. And I love it here. Four more days till Cali bound. Have a zillion pics.

Many mahalos,

BB

Good stuff!

Don’t forget to check the Windward side, from Diamond Head to Crouching Lion, as NE swells sneak in when a NW wind hits the NorCal coast…like Monday -Wed.

Northshore breaks about 2 days every two weeks in Summer, so you got sum.

Check Kahala, where the Hilton used to be, for a good outside left…Browns, DH, also catch swells when Waikiki are flat.

And with your stoke, you should hit the West Side, Maile to Yok’s, if the 3’ South hits Oahu as predicted.

Instead of a bigger tanker, look for better, uncrowded waves away from Waikiki. Even Magic Island is an excape from crowds.

Howzit Bill, Sounds like you and the family are enjoying Oahu. That swell hitting the north shore kinda caught us by surprise. Somebody told me yesterday that there might be another on the way, better check the surf report. Aloha, Kokua

Yup big typhoon south of Japan may send a west swell our way.

Hey guys,

Hawaii must be great!

Here in sydney im out wearing my full steamer and still frezing to death in the 1-2footers on offer never mind… I’m still stoked!

actually i like this cool water im deciding to call it ‘winter warmth’

“Winter warmth”…

It’s June like 19th, our water temp is 50.7, airs 58, and you can verify that on surfpulse.com.

AND, this is WestCoast CALIFORNIA!

Sounds like your having a blast…If youre only been surfing Canoes, you might want to paddle out toward the west, a bit farther out but there are a few breaks out there, Populars, Paradise and Three’s (my favorite spot on the south shore) that have a more experienced crowd and better wave quality. There’s supposed to be a bump on the north and south shores so you’re in luck. If youd like you can call me at 225-9037, I’m quite busy right now but maybe able to get a session in…ask for Derek.

Hit Pops our first day out - yeow, what a paddle! Gotta leave on Wed for the thick marine layer of Cali. Clumps of seaweed and kelp, tar everywhere, and I don’t know how many human viruses…

Ah, making plans for our Xmas trip here already. hey, foamdust, just might give you a ring…

Ain’t so bad up here.

Of course, NW winds 20-35mph, a midweek hint of a belly button high S swell mixed with the usually wind swell junk, 49 degree waters off the SanFrancisco coast, no oil, no shark sightings in at least 2 weeks, tons of crowds at the kook spots, no crowds at the blown/closed out spots…as per usual.

Where in California are you visiting next?

You probably don’t want to wear a 4/3 wetsuit + booties right after a Oahu trip, so SF Bay Area might get a pass.

At least our water temps aren’t 48 degrees. That’s saved for later summer Southern Oregon!

Howzit Boondock! Sounds like your having a blast. I will probably take a trip during the winter. If your looking for some good spots with almost no people to take your son longboarding you could go to Fly’s which is on the Westside of Kakaako Park. There are steps that make for easy for getting out. People always talk about the sharks but, I ve been surfing that spot and Sand Island since I was a little kid. Lot’s of good memories. Sometimes the waves could get up to 4 feet and noboby out just me and my little brother tearing it up. Sand Isand too, is a great spot to longboard alittle shallow but, I love this place. If you decide to check out Fly’s you should go on lowtide. High tide the waves kind of have a lite backwash. I think you’ll like this wave. Take it easy and catch some good rides for me. See ya,

                                                              Da Cheetah

LeeDD,

that’s the same temps we’ve got on the westcoast of Norway. Oh, wait… I thought you said the airtemp was 50.7…

regards,

Håvard
