No worries. Great stuff.
Janklow,
I thoroughly enjoyed your animation.

Oops–that’s a signature. I save it for certain threads. Accidentally dropped it here. Glad you liked it though.
so sad! he just wanted to fly…
Yea, it’s pretty much as Losos said, we’re working on adding new things all the time but they have to be managed well or software can get out of control with new stuff. But more importantly, now that we have a large userbase, we’re very careful to change things that could affect a lot of people adversely and only help out a few.
Another consideration is time, we try to work on what we think will be the most beneficial taking time into account. Obviously some features take much longer to write than others.
With that being said, keep the suggestions coming.

Anyway, I’m stoked many of you are getting use out of the software.
Jimmy
Any plans to open source the drafting portion of your software? I mean the portion that is freely distributed - not the controller software that you sell. I’m a Java developer with experience developing GIS systems and would probably contribute. My main hesitation to switching over is concern that if your company goes out of business or discontinues support for this software then my shapes would be tied up in a closed, proprietary file format and I’d have to redo them all.

Have a look at the fileformat. It’s ascii, numbers are control coordinates for the bezier splines. It took me a couple of hours to figure it out and write a loader. I have the source for it if you want it. That’s about how tied you are to the this software if they go out of buisness.

Ok, I guess I’m out of excuses! I’m going to try it for my next board.
I forgot to say, although I’m sure you could figure it out after you downloaded it, but you can print full-sized from the program–it’s a function under FILE> PRINT.
You don’t need to make a PDF (that same PRINT function), but that’s an option if you want to take it or e-mail it to a printer.
(Thanks again, Jimmy, if you look in here again.)
No worries, no plans on going out of business anytime soon. We’re aware that there are a lot of users that get a lot of use out of the software so we’re not interested in leaving them high and dry in the event of the worst case.
We’re stoked people are finding it useful.
