Ok thinking of shaping a little egg/disk shape and wonder if my dimensions are too wide. I’m thinking 6’ x 18" x 22" x 14" I want a nice full nose on it and a rounded pin tail. It will be 60/40 pinched rails with a soft down rail in the last 16". Single fin. mostly flat bottom with a very slight 1/8" V startin 2 to 2 1/2’ from the tail. This will mostly be for small beach break and is masked as a design for the wife (novice rider) but is something I’m sure I’ll end up “borrowing” every now and again. Any thoughts or ideas? Is this too wide?
How tthick are you planning on making it?
Oops sorry it’ll be about 2 1/2" thick
Not at all.
Be aware it will paddle pretty good compared to shortboards, catch waves easily, but surprisingly, not a whole lot sooner than shortboards.
It will go well. This is mine http://www.swaylocks.com/forum/gforum.cgi?post=168833;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread

I weigh 81kg and am about 5’7. Hope this is of a bit more help
Keep well
Hey Swifty, good looking board. That is very close to what I’m looking at doing thanks. I think my tail outline will be a little more narrow. What are the widths at tail and nose on that board? How does it ride?
Ambrose, I’m 6’0 and 175lbs, but it’s mainly for the wife, she’s 5’7 and about 120lbs. Ok noe I’m a dead man. oops.
Thanks for all your guys help. I’ve got a left over 6’2C blank that i think will work perfect for this board.
use all the thickness
consistant with structural integrity
this will make the most durable board
3’’ for the bigger guys is manditory in my book
you can always give away waves ,even when you can catch em all,
nothing sadder than a big guy not catching waves because their bosrd doesnt float or plane out…ambrose… beeg guys deserve a turn too
I’ll try and use all the thickness I can get out of it. I’m also thinking of widening the tail to 16" (after seeing swifty’s board)
I’m all for sharing waves, especially when I can catch which ever one I feel like.
