Reading my March issue of Outside magazine in an article about Kauai, I ran across this…
" It’s not easy to leave after a lomi lomi massage at the resorts spa, a mai tai at the brewpub (to the tunes of Ambrose, the seventy something ukelele player), and an ono taco at the Shrimp Station, in town, but there’s more exploring to be done"
I was surprised that my first reaction was…huh, a friend of mine is in the mag…even though we have never met…yet. Secondly, sad for the writer who missed so many more of Ambrose’s many facets (or at least didn’t write about them) It makes me want to hook up with the gang going over for a Kauai tsunami relief fundraiser.
I know…this isn’t surfboard design…all respect to the elders. Gil
" to the tunes of Ambrose, the seventy something ukelele player "…
that is absolutely bloody CLASSIC !!! [I haven’t laughed so much in years…nearly drowned my keyboard with drink !!]
…just IMAGINE the lyrics to his songs eh !!!
So, WHEN are you going to put out an album, Amby, old boy ??!! I’ll buy one, when you release the tee’s to go with it . I’d like to see THAT !!!
"Tiny Tim ‘chip’ "
next …the hollywood movie “Ambrose, the kauai hobbit revisited” [complete with his hawaiian ukelele orchestra] …in IMAX, for the full sensurround sound…

I feel the same way. As John Mellor once told me, his girl friend calls us “imaginary friends”.
This is not really real; Ambrose is my idealistic checks and balances process, the equalizer, and enforcer (of goodwill).
Who is Amy Linn,my uke hasn’t been outa da case for a coupla years…shrimp station? Brew pub margaritas? pezman wrote the article for surfer much to the chagrin of the concerned ,never having visited ,quote the ancient disgruntled Icon of wainiha baugess , the existance of another ambrose? the only one I’ve heard of is Ambrose Yadao he migght be 70 something … if amy stopped by she would surely had more litterary ammo than ashrimp taco and a lingering tune…
surfing, my friends we all know what that can do to one lingering demeanor…
the greatest explorations will always overlook many of the finer points ,can yoou confirm than the columbus? who had a different impression than cabessa de vacca…or americus vespucci … jimmy is perhaps postponing a mainland trip in order to be home to host manic surfing swaylocians will this happen?..is mellor gonna matt surf hideaways with us?,will black rock be kona? will aliomanu be hospitable …the finer points or pedestrian hanalei and pakala await with the silence of the ages…ambrose…the mountains have been here longer than anybody , they see everything come and go and are uniquely hospitable
