“modern guru” yeah, they all have something special, but you’re right about the angles, as far as I understand it. This guy even went as far out as near 45 degrees, but whatever.
Anyway, we can beat this horse til it’s dead, but I say the best thing to do is build it, and see! I wish I had more time to do personal boards now, because I want to make another one of these…
I have actually made a board with inverted vee out the back, the concave starts between the front and back fins (quad), and acellerates out the back. The board was designed as a flex experiment and unfortunately I had a problem with the ResinX turning soft after a month. I’ll post a picture later.
On thing that I have been considering is creating a consistent inverted vee angle (like 176 degrees) for the entire hull of the board, this way the template width would determine the depth of the concave. So that at the widest point in the template the panel concave will be the deepest, and as the template narrows the depth of the concave will decrease.
That sounds really interesting. Are you going to make it with a similar outline and rocker to a board that you have with a curvy bottom contour? Or does this experiment change your thinking about the outline, rocker, etc.?
