Just posted my latest board in the resources, but I actually took a couple of along-the-way shots that I figured I’d put up as well, so here goes.
This board started because as I was polishing my last board in the yard, a neighbor from down the street stopped by and said “I didn’t know you knew how to make boards.” So he brought by the longboard you see below. Apparently the nose had been broken off the board, and I believe he took it into his machine shop and attempted to reshape it with his band saw (which it is why it is in the decidedly asymetric non-longboard shape you see below).
After taking a drill with a griding disc and grinding the glass off the rails, the rest of the glass came off very easily and cleanly in two sheets (top and bottom). The big brown stain on the nose is from the fact that they had Santa surfing on the broken board all last Christmas season in their front yard.
Hey guys, thanks a lot! The final dims are 6’6" x 20.75" x 2.25". It’s got pretty low rocker (around 3.5" nose, and probably 2" tail), just due to the fact I wasn’t left much to play with from the original longboard. The neighbor I delivered it too was so excited, he said I get the first ride (which in turn made me very excited), now we just need some waves…
