any tips on bat tail quads?

Just started messing about with templates for a bat tail quad, 6’0x 17.5’ at the nose 20.5’ centre 16’ tail with 10.5 bat tail, the tails about 2’ deep should i go deeper? any advice on this would be handy as i’ve only shaped performance thrusters.

G’day Sabo, Your post is a few months old as write this so maybe youve already made one or two.All the information I have is gathered from hunting around for snippets from other people making them,Im experimenting at this stage .Your dimensions sound a bit fishier than mine.Anyway heres the dimensions on a diamond tail quad I finished recently. Its more of a thrusterish shape…6’6" x 19 1/2 x 2 5/8…@ 1’ from nose 12 1/2"…@ 1’ from the tail 15" …the actual tail is 1" deep and point to point is 8"…fins are set at 11" and 5",4 degrees cant on the front and zero at the back, both front and rear fins are toed in 2" off the nose,Ive got futures boxes in there so Im going to experiment a bit with the fins, foils both sides on the rear or smaller single foils.Bruce Mckee is a four fin expert ( mckee surfboards ) ,someone else pointed me in his direction,he has a table on his site for fin placement in relation to tail width and the length of your board. which sounds like a key element,as does fin size etc.I saw an article that quoted Rusty saying putting the rear fins closer together will be more drivey and more cant on the rears will add to looseness.I went further apart with no cant.In the same article Rusty said he was putting his back fins at around 4.3 inches.I have heard a few people say spreading them apart is good but Im sure there are lots of variables to consider like individual preference and the waves, etc. etc… …From the looks of this one if I were to make a bat tail I would do it pretty much the same just round out the facets of the diamond tail.It seems people are putting all kinds of tails on them so who knows…was fun to shape…Regards from Matt…

sorry cant get the pics to load ,resized them to ant size and the computer says no…i will try to explain ,with the outline the rail is relatively straight through the middle, then theres a pretty balanced curve from both two feet from the nose and two feet from the tail, nothing too radical…
