Anybody going to Fish Fry at Currumbin?

March 4th I believe?

FISH FRY= A bunch of surfers who enjoy the (Lis) Fish design, a grill and some marinated Mahi Mahi. Mix in a waist high wave somewhere and it is on, expression session style. This year some person by the name of Grant is hosting one in Australia at Currumbin. Seeing as how FF has made an around the world crossing, I thought it might be of interest (and a great excuse for me to comeover).

I’m thinking you might need an assistant to carry your laptop, pens, paddle, maybe hold the microphone during transcription and free healthcare if needed.

I’m thinking of going but have 2 things going against me right now:

  1. Gold Coast is 2000 kms away from me and

  2. I’ll be pushing Sheit up a hill to get my HWS fish finished in time :slight_smile:

PS: for that time of the year, with a bit of luck there will be a bit more than waste high waves on the Goldy.

The Fry is on the 7th of march. Mr. Grant Newby and co. petitioned the city council so we got the point for the day to just go fish silly! I’m about 5000k away and it’s gonna be worth every k !!

Hmmm, is it the 4th March (Sunday) or the 7th March (Wednesday)?

The original thread says 4th March.

Sorry, momentary brain cramp . It is the 4th. Too much going on in the cabeza with dates and whatnot. Definately the 4th! Hope to see you guys there!!

Too funny…“South of ponto , north of pickleweed point”.

I know you’re exact location. Right near the moonshine beacon. And that beacon shines a very brite lite. I like to surf Al gore’s reef and also north of there at new house. Too bad I can’t go to Oz…

Is there going to be another Fish get together at ocean slide this year. Maybe we can set up a swaylock’s tent.

im am just confirming that its on 4th march… also we have a shaping bay and a glassing factory if Rich or some of the other visitors are doing a few boards while they are here…

I’m very keen to head across the Tasman for the Fish Fry. Any of you know of good cheap places to stay near Currumbin? I plan on just stepping off the plane and looking for something suitable, but if any of you with local knowledge know of somewhere good, let us know eh?

…man, would i love to be there!..

this is extremely early, but anybody in florida ( or anywhere really) interrested, plans are in the works for a florida fish fry, in North Florida, shooting for september. Sean Mattison has been contacted (he grew up in Jacksonville/Atlantic Beach FL.), & we’re very excited about the project. Details to come as they unfold…

Looking for board builders between sydney and the gold coast that would like to have a demo for Lokbox. Just contact me at lokbox@sbcglobal.net. Or, if your in this area and would just like to have a surf just let me know. I’ll have a couple of cool fish boards you can try out! It’s my first time to OZ and I know there’s all kinds of waves along this stretch of coast! Suggestions?? Would love to meet up with any swaylockians! Thanks Jim
