Anyone been to Singapore?

I might be taking a trip to Singapore for work related reasons. If anyone has a clue as to how accessible the Mentawais are from there please enlighten me. Any reply is appreciated

You can take a ferry from Singapore out the Indonesian islands of Batam and Bintan in the Riau archipelago. It’s only about 15 - 20 minutes.

From there You go by speedboat through the swamps to Pekanbaru in Sumatra and then across Sumatra with bus(es) to Padang on the west coast. This is a long hard trip!

I think there are also Indonesian internal flights going from Batam or Bintan which will take You straight to Padang!

There should be irregular boats going from Padang to the islands or get on a charter boat from there.

fly from singapore to padang, sumatra -then junp boat to islands.padang is really cool third world citybut there is a 5 star hotel everyone going on boat trips stays at (can’t remember name ) it is really well known and is meeting place.

ran into a friend that i went to sumatra with and he is going in 2 weeks.he said ,’ you have to get a special health ins. package for third world travel to get on boats-it costs two hundred bucks and you can’t get on boat without it!Another friend fell out of a tree a year ago with no ins. and is still a mess and almost died in route to hospital.The bottom line is your a long way ( 15 hrs.) for care.
