Anyone interested in making something that will enhance all surfboards performance ?

Need a partner to make this .

Needs world wide patents since it does work  - $$

Will be made in Boston Mass.

Yes go  on national tv exsposing your product .

Sure, what sort of widget is it?

“Yes go  on national tv exsposing your product”

Yes, it’s called marketing. You’re better off spending your Patent $$ on marketing and getting your product in the hands of users.

If you can’t afford to get the product to market, chances are you can’t afford to protect the IP in a Patent Infringement lawsuit.

Ideas are free. Execution matters. Build it, sell it, create a market.

There’s no margin in surf hardgoods anyways, so the return likely won’t make it past any basic business model planning phase. It sounds like you haven’t gotten that far or you would have already realized the effort is not worth the return.

If you love it and you believe in it and you want to see it built, then do it. If you’re trying to make a buck in the surfing world, you’re going to be sorely disappointed.

More to the point…Why Boston?     What does Boston offer, that makes it so attractive?      How much of a hint can you provide, about the product/idea, without creating a problem for yourself.

Given the title of the thread, it sounds like you may have stumbled onto a ‘‘fin breakthrough.’’     Am I getting warm?

Bill

I don’t want to enhance all surfboards performance, just my own, hahaha

It’s an aftermarket product
that will enhance allmost all existing boards
new boards will be designed around versions of it
think as big as Fcs and Futures combined in sales

I have been waiting 40 years to see a new fin design. If it looks anything like the dorsal fin of a fish, whale,or Dolphin don’t bother.

I bet Greg is on to something else. I had a design for a fin box that would allow you to pivot a fin 360degrees…move forward and back and tilt from side to side to change the cant. I told the guy from futures about my idea (Curtis something?) and he said it would be to expensive to produce but it was a good idea. I mean WTF! What would you pay for a box like that?

Another thing is some of my peers said that it would just confuse the average surfer. Too many options.

Is there a commercial 3d printer in boston?

Greg, you’ve got my curiosity piqued as well.

If you’re willing to elaborate a bit more on what it is, what you need from others, or anything else in private, shoot me a PM.  I’m happy to explain privately who I am.  I don’t have capital to offer if all you need is investors, but I do know a few things after 15 years in and around industrial and aerospace manufacturing.  I hope you will at least be using a non-disclosure agreement with anyone involved.  Not that it can prevent theft of ideas, but it gives something.

In any case, best wishes on your endeavor.  You operate on a whole nuvah level that I find pretty inspirational.

Count me in Greg . How much moolah are we talkin’ here ?

I Think I know why Boston and it has to do with some of the best and brightest research people in the world now what magor Schools are in Boston and what they are doing with 3d printing.

I had the same idea. Begins with an M, and ends with IT.

There’s a lot of folks in Massachusetts who are wicked smaht.

In the mid 90’s because surfers accepted FCS to the point they owned the idustry I felt surfers could accept a product like this , especially since it actually works .

I contacted DuPont told them what I wanted to make and they understood immediately that  it was valid - not like a surfer-

They suggested a material and put me in contact with a company that uses tons of this material .

I gave them an overview of what could be done and they sent me samples and a 1 800 # to their engineering dept.

This company is in Boston still.

I lightly talked to the companies I worked for here about this .

Best reaction was ," if its that good how come Al Merick isn’t making it ".  :-)

I love what surfing and salt water has done to humans  :-)

I can help you with online marketing it if gets to that point.

It needs world wide protection before exsposing it .

Its that real .
