Went wake surfing yesterday on my skimmer. Was alot of fun.
Just wondering if any of you ever tried making boards other than hard rail skimmer looking things?

i saw something called “wake surfing” on fuel…
they looked like skimboards on steriods…the boat would go slow to create a big displacement wake just behind the boat…looked like fun
A good driver can make the wake longer when needed. You can surf hands free for several mins if your good. When they make hard turns it builds a killer wedge looking thing. I’ll be going back for surf. I mean for sure.
On a Lake Alantic Fla day Hobie’s record might go away!!!
3/8" ply, glass it double 6 top and bottom, bend it while glassing, add deck no skid, outline you like similar to skimboard.
Sizing depends on your size and boat wake size, and your skill. Somewhere around 55" tall by 21" wide, small wakeboard fins optional.
I’ve seen someone riding a normal minimal for several minutes on the wake of a wakeboard boat in a local made wakeboard video.
did see some footage of the bow wave on some large cruise ships yesterday. Looked nice. The ultimate in extreme sports?

yeah lee sounds like an easy job…wonder how plastic honeycomb core with doorskin skins would work?
might be heaps lighter…think i’ll give it a go…now if i only had a boat…
PS - saw some kiteboarding on sunday…kind of makes surfing look boring…maybe i’ll make a kb too…hmmm…so many toys so little time
I drop into friendly local wakeboard store all the time. Those wakesurf boards are all heavy, similar to a big skimboard with two, rail fins about 2" tall. Thin shape allows for smaller fins. Full deck eva pads. No tech is best there, as they hit the boat constantly, get tossed around, and lightness totally useless.
Kiteboards, you can check them out at your kiteboard store, or see my reply on kiteboard making, this page.
