I wrote the article on China and Thailand in the form of a question. I did not do it to come off as self righteous nor to start a political thread on swaylocks. I wrote it to sum up finally, some of the personal questions that I have with regards to the goverments of those countries. I don’t agree with racial parody. It was not written with any racial undertones. This was meant to be my final stand on the subject here on swaylocks. Honestly, surfers are past any thought of the products they buy or who it effects. The hypsters have done their job well and the divided political climate in our country creates an atmosphere thats not kind to having an objective discussion of things that are not pretty. I don’t think it dredging up old news, because it’s still happening and it’s going to have an effect on our industry to some degree. I am still holding out hope that surfers will tire of those boards and obsession with making, “the deal” will fade like most of the rest have.

I think there is still plenty of time to go surfing and enjoy life, while at the same time pondering some hard questions. So if I offended anyone, I apologize. My next article will be about more up beat stuff.

Appreciate the apology, Solo. It’s good for all of us to think about how human beings are being treated everywhere. On a more up-beat note, I just got this REAL email yesterday, so I think everything in China is going to be OK!!! (Plus maybe unemployed shapers and glassers can make a living just cashing “cheques” for them…)
