Application of resin dyes

I’m about to do a rehaul of a short singlefin I did last year. I’ve sanded it down considerably, and am looking forward to a new dye (or possibly paint) and glass job, along with some artwork my sister’s going to put on it.

I’m looking for any good advice on applying dyes into the resin (preferably the lam coat) for a primary, base color, and any advice about working this dyed resin.

I’ve only used dye once before, and it came out horribly. But I’m not sure if that had more to do with the fact that it was on a channeled singlefin (so the even-ness of applying the dyed resin was tricky), my own incompetence, or something with the dye/resin medium itself.

Help’s appreciated greatly.

Have a good one.
