Merry Christmas Swied. Let us know how your board turn out. Mike
Mr Thrailkill,
If he doesn’t want your input from solid experience, I am sure the others of us here do.
Its funny how simple ideas somehow elude us all. I have been using a favourite bowl for my deep swallows, but the nose template sounds much easier, and exact…DOH!
thanks,
rob
just have to un-check the “continuous” box for the bottom left point. nice job.
That was the trick that I needed! I never knew what that check box was doing there until now.
Here’s the design that I’m thinking about using (see PDF below).
Don’t try machine cutting before you’ve got all the loops out of the outline - the machine is likely to try to cut the bottom deck from the top!
For the machine none of the points may extend beyond the zero or nose point of the board
I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have the machine!! I wish I did though!

Sorry. I think I caused some confusion by not stating my intentions at the beginning. I’m not using the software to build a board with an APS machine. I’m actually going to build the board out of balsa wood. The APS 3000 software just seemed like it would be nice to use for printing the templates. This is the first board that I have ever built. I chose balsa mainly because I feel comfortable working with wood. I’ll branch out to foam later.
The crack is the last thing you should shape into the fish anyway because of the chance of breaking a tip.
That makes a lot of sense. It is something that I didn’t think of before, but now plan on incorporating into my process. Thanks!
