Archive Advice

I’m still having trouble accessing posts through the archives. I’ve tried with Mac and PC, but no dice. I have about 10% success when I search under a poster’s name. Any tips?

Ed, Everytime someone brings ups bugs regarding the archive search function I cringe. Unfortuately there is no easy fix right now. I’m looking into fixing is real soon. Until then – please bear with it. Perhaps I can help. What are you trying to search for and how exactly are you doing it? Mike

Ed (and to all others who have been having a terrible time with the Swaylock’s seach functionality), I’ve done a bit of tinkering and now the swaylock’s search form on each page (in the grey area at the top) no longer returns weird links. The search functionality still needs needs some work but I think this is a definate improvement. enjoy, mike

Mike, Whenever I try to read a thread from the search results, most of the times it won’t display the page. It seems it doesn’t generate the link properly. Here’s an exemple of the page it tries to load : http://dev.swaylocks.com/cgi-bin/search/http//www.swaylocks.com/cgi-bin/discussion/archive.cgi?review=19392 While instead of course it should have been : http://www.swaylocks.com/cgi-bin/discussion/archive.cgi?review=19392 Hope that helps. Pierre

Thanks Mike, I can only imagine your frustration. Mostly, I’m just dicking around with the archives to increase my meager knowledge base. This time, I was searching for information about inlays. Ed

Can you try searching something again from the global search swaylock’s in the grey bar above? thanks. Mike

Can you try searching something > again from the global search swaylock’s in the grey bar above?>>> thanks. Mike Mike, I tried a search with the following keywords : hard rails From the search result, none of the answers seem to fonction (still the same problem) I then tried a new search(keywords : wood hollow), still unsuccessfull. Last, I tried another time (keyword : pinlines)and this time it did work. I then thought maybe it’s because I entered only one keyword. So I went back to the “hard rail” search and entered only the word “rails”. It worked. Hopefully we’re getting closer, good luck … Pierre
