I need to find the artic blank number for the equivalent 6-10A IN US Blanks. Is there a table out there?
If I understand your post correctly; Go to the Foam Corps website. There is no table. You might call Marty at Arctic and run it by him. Otherwise go to their website and make a comparison based on rockers and length.
If you mean the opposite do it on the US Blanks website using rockers and length.
I would add (as a 13 boards noob) that I’ve been making boards mostly with Arctic foam with a few US Blanks poly & EPS thrown in that I’ve gotten my best results by radically altering the Arctic foam rockers, but I’m 200+ lbs and mostly buying their MF models blanks (very thick) so maybe that’s to be expected. All of the boards where I didn’t take the rocker from a proven board, and just put in the nose rocker (usually around 4.5-5) and tail rocker (usually between 1.5 and 3.0) that I thought would work, and blended to the existing rocker, turned out to have some weird riding properties.
The 6-10A has the exact rocker that I need. That’s why I am looking for the Arctic equivalent. I can only get Artic blanks. Some of the other boards I want to do will be more problematic as they were originaly based on some the old Rusty R series from Clark. Rocker has been the failure in past attempts to dupe some of these proven boards.
Make a rocker template.
Give it to Arctic Foam.
Problem solved.
Wow…if you can get Arctic foam to do blanks with rocker according to your specs I’m Arctic’s newest, biggest fan. I’ve just been buying them from Hotline in SC, but if I can get em delivered there or someplace else close-by with my rocker specs I’ll never buy another US Blanks poly blank.
I tried to post this up earlier but had connectivity probs. So trying again. Order your blanks with the rocker you want, All three of the Poly manufacturers do custom rockers. They also list rocker preferances for some of their blanks other than stock. Millenium, Arctic and US Blanks all offer custom rockers. All three of them most likly got their starting rockers off the Clark Rocker Catalogue. Which is exstensive. Just call Marty down at Arctic and talk to him. I guarantee you he has the #'s of any of the old Clark R sries blanks. You can order the rocker you want, pay for it with your plastic and they will ship it with Hotlines load next trip. Start by going to the Foam Corps web site and checking their existing rockers. You can do as Barry stated; measure the rocker on a board you like and send Marty your #‘s. Millenium does the same. As well as US Blanks and Marko… It’s always better to start with something close tolerance to what you intend to shape. When you start paying attention to rocker you are one step closer to being an accomplished shaper. Some of the guys I sell blanks to in Oregon give me a blank look when I ask them what rockers they are using in their blanks. They don’t even answer me “Stock”. They just say something like; "Welll, whatever the other guy was givin’ me. I don’t know man". Better to order the rocker you want, than work your butt off trying to make something totlly differant work. Those “fat” blanks are for CNC. No elbow grease in that. Lowel
Many thanks, Mcding. This could turn out to be a life changing thread for me.
